A lot of the guesses so far do make sense. My 5 guesses (and reasons) would be:

- Lexington at Coral Sea. It's an iconic battle, an iconic ship that's still missing, the big fights at Coral Sea and Midway are going into their 80th anniversarey next year, and it feels like USN18 has seen better days. I bought one last year and it just feels less detailed than current models and like the cast is being worn out (mould lines, details not as crisp when compared to USN82).

- Japanese Ship from Coral Sea or Midway. Similiar reason for the one above. I'm not as current on Japanese ships, in regard to what we already have. Perhaps the Nisshin, the seaplane tender at Midway thats still missing in the lineup.

- HMS Audacity or HMS Avenger. Both still missing. As we've had a few British carriers in the last years (Argus, MAC ship, Colossus) as well as Escort carriers (Bogue, Long Island, 2 Japanese ships), which might indicate that someone likes modelling light carriers at GHQ.

- Dutch Ship from ABDA. Similar as above. Java Sea is also moving towards it's 80th anniversary, so I'd guess we might see either the Callenburgh-class destroyers that are missing or (less likely) a Ducth submarine.

- Axis Transport. We're still missing an Axis transport of any kind, and we usually have one auxiliary each year. So this time I think we might see a Hansa 6000/9000 class freighter or the Italian Orseolo/Gritti Class (both Axis standardized "Liberty" ships). Alternatively one of the missing raiders.

- BONUS: Fleet Air Arm. My 6th guess, Donald had it in his lineup as well IIRC. It just makes sense. With the Colossus class the introduced the Barracuda, which means, they could easily package Hurricanes, Seafires, Swordfish and Barracudas.

Nice guesses. I would buy all of these if GHQ produced them. Forgot about the two British Aircraft carriers. Nice picks.

I'm looking forward to seeing what GHQ has planned for WW2 Micronauts this year! :D

I'll give myself half a point for guessing that there is someone at GHQ, who likes doing British or light carriers, other than that, I completely missed. :D

2.5 ships of 4 isn't a bad ratio and I look forward to seeing the Blue Ridge as well as the other three. Rather surprised that the Blue Ridge was on the list, though, since there are only two ships in the class, but it is on my future purchase list so I guess I won't be getting it from anyone else after all.

It looks like GHQ is focusing on bigger ships and leaving the smaller ships to 3d print on demand storefronts. Anything below a frigate (for moderns) doesn't seem to be a possibility, which is a shame, but understandable. Expect we will see the Constellation, Type 26, Type 31 and Type 32 frigates and probably the Light Amphibious Warship (whenever that gets finalized) in the next few years.

Here is the postmortem for my guesses for 2020-2021 Micronaut releases

For some time now, GHQ has consistently released twelve Micronauts per year. I predict that they will return with four each WWI, WWII, and modern. I got this part correct.

My predictions for Great War releases are the same as last year:
- UK battlecruiser Renown-class
- France pre-Dreadnought battleship Charlemagne-class (three in the class, all at the Dardanelles). The armored cruiser Edgar Quinet-class is my backup choice.
- Italy battleship Dante Alighieri (only a single ship but with unique appearance)
- Italy destroyer Indomito-class. Zero for four in this category.

I predict that there will be another aircraft carrier in this year’s offerings. I was right about an aircraft carrier (oil-tanker based MAC) but I did not correctly guess which one.

I also think there will be a battleship from WWII produced in the next year. One of the late-war British KGV class (Duke of York, Anson, or Howe) sounds like a reasonable choice. Nailed this one, but didn’t see the Sovyetsky Soyuz coming.

GHQ should produce a WWII era cruiser in the coming year. Nope; no WWII cruisers.

I predicted UK V & W-class long-range escort conversion and missed.

Without going through a lot of details, my predictions for modern Micronauts are:
- China corvette Type 056 (Jiangdao-class) NO.
- NATO frigate Horizon (French Forbin, Italian Andrea Doria)-class NO.
- NATO frigate FREMM (French Aquitaine, Italian Bergamini)-class NO.
- Japan guided missile destroyer Atago-class. Second direct hit.

As a backup, I think that the China aircraft carrier Type 002, Shandong, would be a risk – it is not that different from the Type 001 Liaoning and only one will be built. Despite my doubts, this will be produced by GHQ.

Overall, two correct guesses and two straddles.

My predictions for modern Micronauts are:
  • Japan Mogami-class multimission frigate (5 launched, more building, 22 planned);
  • Russian Ropucha I-class LST (25 built). I think it is more likely than the smaller Alligator-class LST (14 built), but that is also a possibility;
  • Chinese Type 903A support ship (7 built), though it could be other Type 9XX ship classes (12 built);
  • UK Tide-class T-AO (4 built) or possibly the US Fort Lauderdale-class LPD (2 built) which is a transition design to the future LX(R)-class.
Far less likely possibilities are:
  • Chinese Type 003 Carrier (2 planned) - Just launched and GHQ already makes the Type 001/002 carriers. Expect it after 2023 once we get a better sense of its layout.
  • Chinese Type 052DL (7+ building/planned) - we already have the Type 052C and D. Probably not until 2024
  • Chinese Type 054B frigate - No design or built copies available
  • Russian Admiral Grigorovich-class frigate (3 built, 6 planned) - Expect that LSTs are higher priority and higher ROI.
As I noted last year, I don't think GHQ will make anything smaller than a frigate. So no Type 056 corvette (sadly), Tarantuls (good versions exist elsewhere) or any of the modern Russian corvettes: Steregushchiy, Gremyashchiy, Karakurt, or Derzky. That said, I think GHQ could do well with a $10.95 Steregushchiy if it had the parts to make a few of the different variations in one kit. However, GHQ has made it clear that they don't create modular designs, unfortunately.

Last year, I was 0 for 5 in predicting which ships GHQ would make this last release year, so I expect to be wildly off this year.

Nevertheless, here are my predictions for modern Micronauts.

It is possible that we could see another new country added to the six already available. If so, France, India, South Korea or Australia are the most likely ones. I know, really limiting myself. All have a wide variety of carriers/LHAs, destroyers and frigates. GHQ could also add a dual purpose Chinese Ro-Ro just be unexpected. It would complement the rest of the Chinese amphibious ships in a Taiwan scenario.

The probables:
  • Taiwanese Kang Ding-class frigate - This would complete the current Taiwanese navy line up. Viking Forge/Sea Battle make a version, but there are several ships GHQ went on to make even though other metal miniature makers produce them;
  • Japanese Mogami-class multimission frigate (6 launched, more building, 22 planned).
The possibles:
  • Russian Admiral Grigorovich-class frigate (3 built, 6 planned);
  • Russian Ropucha I-class LST (25 built). I think it is more likely than the smaller Alligator-class LST (14 built), but that is also a possibility. Both were to be used by Russia for an amphibious landing in Ukraine;
  • Chinese Type 903A support ship (7 built), though it could be other Type 9XX ship classes (12 built);
  • UK Tide-class T-AO (4 built) or possibly the US Fort Lauderdale-class LPD (2 built) which is a transition design to the future LX(R)-class;
  • US Arleigh Burke Flight III destroyer (2 launched, 6 under construction, 15+ planned).
Far less likely possibilities are:
  • Taiwanese Tuo Chiang-class corvette - If GHQ were making corvettes, then this would be high on the list. If it appears on the list, then I think it would be likely that a Chinese Type 056 corvette would appear as well. Both would be in packs of two;
  • Chinese Type 003 Carrier (2 planned) - Floated, but hasn't sailed. Expect it after 2025 once we get a better sense of its layout;
  • Chinese Type 052DL (7+ building/planned) - We already have the Type 052C and D. Probably not until 2025;
  • Chinese Type 054B frigate - One was floated, but there isn't enough to go on to design it.

New list is out. All Modern Australian ships:
  • L02 Canberra
  • DDG 39 Hobart
  • FFH 150 Anzac
  • Supply A195
  • L100 Choules
Following on 3 Taiwanese ships last year, GHQ takes a welcome change of filling out the RAN rapidly. Could get into this trend.
