Paint dried/unable to open

I have a pot of paint from ghq that I can't open up with my hands or pliers. Any ideas to get it open would be great!

Run under hot water until the can is warmed up, then switch to cold, try with pliers again.

I have also put a couple of drops of thinner in the seem between lid and pot, if the stuck lid is because of dried paint.
Quantity has a Quality all its own.
