G series mech battalion

Post by panzergator »

I ordered my G series mech battalion today. No wheels, just tracks, except for the wrecker. Some wheels and the M578s will come later in month. About $203 and change. Nine M113 packs to cover 49 APCs, two M577 packs to get 7, three M114 packs to get 14, two M125 packs to get nine 81mm mortars, and 1 M107 pack for the 4.2 in mortars. Each company has an M114 company command vehicle, no combat support company, two M114s at bn. Scout platoon is nine M114s, with the plt sgt mounted in M113.

The anti- tank platoon is three ENTAC guided missiles mounted on 3 jeeps, for which I am subbing 3 missiles from the Raketenpanzer glued on M151s, which I already have. The company anti-tank section is two jeeps with 106mm recoilless rifles each, which I also already had.

There is no Redeye platoon, but there is a GSR platoon with 5 jeeps and 23/4 Ton trucks (which is one reason we need that M37). The tacair section has an APC and jeep, as well. The M151 had replaced the M38 jeep by now. The medical platoon had an M577 and only 2 M113 ambulances.

I can post the E, G, and H series vehicle requirements for tank and mech battalions for those interested.

Without the discount, what I ordered would have been $239 and change, so the discount is worth the difference. Now is the time to get 'em, Folks.

Very cool, PG! I hope you post some pics as you get them painted!

So I'm doing the math and it sounds like 12 x M113s per company, plus an M114 for the CO?

Yep. It's a little different. I'm also not sure if the M114 was actually issued as the company and battalion command vehicles or if that was just the base TOE. MTOE may have substituted another M113, but the M114 makes it more interesting. The E series is also different. Kinda fun to do the variations.

Lynx was a cut-down M113, far superior to the M114 we got stuck with. Don't gripe about 'em. Faster, more agile, better cross-country.

Of course, I expect Brigadecommander to egg me on about spending yet more money on wheeled vehicles, doubling my expenditure on this one battalion, delaying yet further acquisition of sufficient artillery to support this unit and others. He insists I service HIS addiction.

I remember seeing a pic or two a long time ago. I am looking, since I will have to kitbash them. Probably the WWII 3/4t AT carrier and the Raketenpanzer missiles. Would like GHQ to make that M37.

If you search on ENTAC, select "images," there is a pic of a US 3/4t truck with 4 or 5 boxes across the bed with nose cones visible. Could be fired from the truck or set off by box at a distance from the command stick. Also a pic of a bank of 3 on sticks in the bed facing ti the rear.

The French put them on wings beside thw driver and passenger of 1/4t firing forward.

No. Just remember when you call for a fire mission those 8" rounds will be courtesy of the 1-40 FA. You are welcome. :)

And we always are very appreciative. The King of Battle always puts the balls where the Queen of Battle wants 'em! And he does a good job for us Knights, too!

Thank you panzergator. You will have me laughing all day at work.

I will work on your email request this Weekend. It is a sizable document.
