Beer 3.30 Very Dark
Chris,
I do not think it is a case of additional Moderator(s) since there is very little left to moderate.
The ones we have, when needed are here, fair and more than capable.
I believe the loss of CAMA is a great misfortune, for the forum and GHQ. It should not have happened and it could have been avoided.
What we are missing is the connection of the forum with the company and without that it does not really work for anyone anymore.
The company needs to be here involved and apart of this, otherwise it will no longer be the GHQ forum.
The new owners of GHQ are very much aware of the swing to the online nature of this business. That is probably why they bought in when they did.
Is this forum necessary for them?
Almost certainly not.
However it is a part of the same monster that is now over 75% of sales and growing.
Don't plan to fight the last war.
Imagine the next.

Re: Additional Moderator(s)
If I were GHQ, I woukd expect my IT contractor to take care of this stuff as part of system maintenance and prevention. It shouldn't depend on volunteer moderators for something like this.

Re: Additional Moderator(s)
There are forum spam bot services that aren't that expensive.
That said, I would be happy to be a (very) part-time moderator to remove the spam as I am sure a bunch of us would be.

Re: Additional Moderator(s)
The why I would speculate is continuity for the business. Succession planning. It started fifty-three years ago after all. Plus or minus a year. So I would speculate the original owner thought about getting in a little retirement time. And the fact that we did not know is to their credit.

GHQ started the year I graduated high school and I'm 71, so I guess he's entitled to retire.

Obviously I do not know how old he was when he started the business but I do not think it out of the realm of possibility he is now in his 80's. Everyone who makes it to their 70's should be granted retirement payments for life!panzergator wrote: ↑Mon Mar 15, 2021 9:18 pmGHQ started the year I graduated high school and I'm 71, so I guess he's entitled to retire.

Re: Additional Moderator(s)
GHQ is still owned by the founders. No change in the company I am delighted to say.
I did have a brief conversation with Channing. Nice to speak with him.
So there has not been a leveraged buyout. Business as usual.
Hope that this update helps.

Actually you have just created confusion but I can deal. Not the first time in my life.
Would have felt better if there was a succession planned or actually already transpired but as long as the orders get filled I am in.
