Bill that's awesome! Your ships always look fantastic! Every time you post some pics I have to fight the urge to dive head firs into historical micronauts!

Bill,

Awesome job on the French destroyer! I love the decals. I am so tempted to update my French ships with the decals from Flight Deck Decals. I have been sold on the carrier deck decals for awhile now, but these hull decals have got me rethinking things.

Thank you again for sharing the pictures. I really look forward to seeing more of you work.

That is an excellent job on Le Fantasque, Bill! The decal really adds to your already great paint work. I have a couple of GHQ's French WWII ships that I bought on a game store closeout a long time ago.

It is great to see Flight Deck Decals doing hull numbers now as well as deck decals. The few times I have put on hull numbers on some Modern ships for GHQ, I had to do the old cut and paste to get the numbers I needed.

Thanks a lot Pete! Researching the colors, the funnel stripes, and the colors of the numbers, I now know more about French destroyers than I probably need to know, lol.I don’t bother with hull numbers on my US WWII ships, they were painted so small, and the number colors varied with the camo measure, after weathering, they would be so small in 2400th they wouldn’t be seen. But on the French ships, those numbers stand out, so the model just wouldn’t look right without them. Maybe one day we can sweet talk Dan into a sheet or two of numbers for Royal Navy Destroyers and escort destroyers.

Here's a couple more 250/1's. The flash kind of drowned out the wash and dry brushing. I'm starting to experiment more with more adding foliage my models, and I'm going to start weathering gun barrels from hear on out, the straight flat black bothers me, it looks blah.

Those are great looking Sdkfz 250s, Bill! I think they look fine as is. For my 1/285th scale MG barrels and other smaller caliber weapons such as natural metal 20mm guns etc., I either go with pure Humbrol Panzer Gray which is like using a scale black or sometimes I will add a touch of gunmetal to give it a very slight sheen after applying Dullcoat.

Being the astute modeller that you are, I know what you are trying to achieve. Just don't go with silver or make it too shiny. There always seems to be that perfect balance we are looking for.

Here is a pair of my own Sdkfz 250-1 and 250-10 that I painted over 30 years ago. These were among my first painted GHQ in my "new" style of painting.
Although I have changed some things about my style a bit over the years, much is still the same.

Thanks a lot Red, appreciate the comments!!!

Thanks a lots Pete!, those are some great looking 250's, the balkenkreuz look great!
I'm not a big fan of Humbrol paints for number of reasons, but I've never really had much success with them.
I'm pretty entrenched as a Vallejo painter, I'm just so used to the way they mix, and lay, its comfortable. I totally get where you're coming from with the barrel color mix, I actually have a similar mix for my 28's, I just never thought of applying it to 6mm due to scaling. For my 28's, I mix 50/50 flat black, and gun metal; when that's dry, dry brush with oily steel to highlight the edges. Here's a few of my British Para to show the gun barrels.Image

Those British Paras look excellent, Bill! Your rendering of the weapons looks spot on to me.
