I really like your Midway display. The Mitchells onboard the Hornet really are a nice touch, and make it stand out from the other 2 Yorktown class carriers. I only bought CV-8 recently, and I was somehow hoping for a sprue of B-25s to be included. I had a small Revell 1/1200 scale model, years back, that actually included them.

It's also interesting to see how you handled the PT-Boats. They look much more dynamic and less crowded than my own approach with 4 per base.

Are your models usually fixed to the base?

STS, thanks a lot. I bought the Hornet a long time ago, but I seem to remember it came with a sprue of Mitchell’s. Could be wrong. Yes, I always attach my ships to the base with CA.

Finished the CA Zara, it was a fun little build, actually my first Italian ship.

My next Micronaut will be taking back to my Taffy Three project, the USS Johnston (DD-557). If anyone hasn't read about the ship or the Battle of Samar in general, it is a fantastic and inspirational story.

Thanks for looking, Billy

That is excellent work on the Zara, Billy! My first and only Italian ship so far is the CA Pola that I painted for GHQ a few years ago. I appreciate that GHQ
scribes the deck for the barber pole markings on these. It makes it much easier to paint.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Pete, with the work you do on armor, I’d love to see your work on a ship. It is awesome of GHQ to put those scribed lines on, it cuts down on so much time trying to get the angles and the width right. That’s what took me so long to do an Italian ship, I didn’t know they did that, and I frankly didn’t feel like dealing with it. I finally caved because I wanted to expand my collection, imagine my delight!

Hi Bill

Thank you very much! I appreciate it. Bill, your work is excellent and you have great attention to detail.

I have painted a fair number of ships over the years. I have several ships of mine that are in the GHQ catalog as I used to do some of the painting for them.
The Pola is just one example.

At some point, I will be painting more ships but I have lots of WWII and Modern Cold War era armor, other vehicles, and infantry to paint up. However, when GHQ releases the HMS Otranto, I should have the ships to do both Coronel and The Falklands in WWI. So much to do, so little time.

The exquisiteness of the painting on the tiny bits of gear on their belts makes me soooo envious of your skills.
