Tank Fighting Positions Terrain

Post by Nayr »

Wondering if any one has experience making some fighting positions for either Cold War European or Golan Heights type terrain? Or maybe some nice photos or examples.

Pete and Polish do some pretty amazing terrain, they might be able to help.

Not sure exactly what you are looking for, Legion IV hire makes some tank positions. I have some, if I can I will post some pictures.

Looking for dug-in, hull-down tank fighting positions. Would love to see those Legions IV Hire ones. Do they seem suitable for desert/arid environments, Western Europe, pretty generic? Are they resin, how were they to paint up and integrate into your terrain? If they look nice I might order a few packs.

I was also looking for pics or how-tos of peoples scratchbuilt ones.

These are generic fighting positions made out of sheet styrene, styrene strips and foam spackling.

Thanks for posting these, they all look great. I have to admit I might prefer your styrofoam jobs to the LegionsIVHire stuff just because they're carved to sit flush with the ground, the commercial piece looks like it has quite a thick lip/base.

In Legion's defense, that particular piece was warped and when I tried my usual hot water method of flattening it out, it cracked so I glued it to 1/8" thick piece of MDF. This another of his hull down positions without the MDF base.

This what that first piece looks like "raw" without the base.

They are resin, can be prone to some flash and if like this one, with an open area, prone to warping but that is normally easily correctable by putting it in 180 degree F water for 15 - 30 seconds to flatten out.

They do paint up nicely with acrylic craft or hobby paints

Okay thanks for elaborating.. Those look really nice. I may order a set to see how I like working with resin.

Legion IV hire has a different one for modern tanks. I will try and post a pic soon. I am not at home for next few days.

One of two of my original revetment models I provided Allen Rockwell at Game Craft Miniatures for a few copies and no residuals. He added thicker agrigate for more texture.

David, thank you, I do have an land-based Aegis system. Also have several of your large protected hides. They are very nice.
