This is the 2021-2022 Wishlist for the GHQ NEW PRODUCT LIST of 2022-2023

Post by panzergator »

Ok, all you folks who gave such grief about my wishlist thread title, where is this year's wishlist thread?

If you don't like the title, the Chaplain is in Bldg 19045, Chaplain's Annex. He will punch your TS card and send you on your way.

Please list your requests by era, miliary designation, and nickname. After that, add your reasons for why it should be selected.

Let me find last years' thread and I'll just copy/paste my wants. Lets be honest, there's been no change. I was very disappointed with the 2021/22 release schedule being almost entirely ultra-modern kit with nothing suitable for my 1980's and earlier Middle East projects :(

PG, how did you get roped into doing the wish list? LOL Here are some of my wishes, in two categories. The first category is stuff that is useful and (I think) pretty marketable. The second category is stuff that might not be as popular, but that I still want anyway for my own selfish reasons.

Stuff that is useful and marketable:

WW2 / Cod War / Modern
Vehicle stowage – various crates and boxes, duffel bags, ruck sacks, tarps and rolled camo netting
Civilian cars – different types, different eras

Micronauts
Korean War US carrier aircraft pack – banshees, panthers, skyraiders
Korean war land-based aircraft pack – F86, Mig15
Modern landing craft – LCACs, LCMs, LCUs

Stuff that I want just for selfish reasons:

Modern
US: AN/TPQ-36 Firefinder radar (travel and deployed configuration)
US: AN/TPQ-37 Firefinder radar (travel and deployed configuration)
M1074 PLS Trucks, plus extra flat racks
Military dog handlers with mutts
SOF / PMC guys - swole dudes with baseball hats

I’m sure I will think of something else later, or just jump on the bandwagon with other items that get listed.
Time on the recce is time well spent!

Modern Era

Nato
M800 series 5ton truck, open bed with separate canvas. Along with the M54, which closely resembles the M800 series, we are looking at 30 years in service as a service support vehicle, which is plenty of justification for inclusion. Cargo, fuelers (with tank and pump units, expando vans, wreckers, dump rucks. Plenty of variety to expand the basic chassis. Make the chassis and have kits for the variations.
M520 GOER, Cargo, in service in Vietnam and throughout the 70s, the principle ammunition resupply vehicle in tank battalions. Carried 8 tons. Ampibious. Cross-country capable. 5 per tank battalion.
M559 GOER, Fuel Service, same service as cargo version. 4 per tank battalion.
M553 GOER, Wrecker, one per tank battalion assigned to headquarters company maintenace section. Could be included with cargo or fueler pack.
Stowage, including duffel bags, packs, sandbags, tires, roadwheels, ammo boxes and tubes.
All blessings flow from a good mission statement.

Wishlist for GHQ 2022-2023

Post by Donald M. Scheef »

Here is my wish list for 2022-2023:

• WWII France torpedo boat La Melpomene-class: This class of miniature destroyers was intended for escort work in the Mediterranean. They turned out overweight, lacking in stability, and unsuited for open-ocean work. They were fast, however, and several of them had interesting careers. There are numerous other small ships of similar characteristics that I would like modeled.

• WWI Italy light cruiser Bixio-class or Quarto: One of these would give the Italians a scouting force to go along with its heavier forces. The Pisa-class cruiser that GHQ produced for the 2018-2019 season is an armored cruiser rather than a light cruiser.

• WWI Italy battleship Dante Alighieri: This one-of-a-kind battleship carried heavy armament and had a high speed at the expense of relatively light armor. I would like to have it both because of its unusual appearance and to complete the Italian WWI battle fleet.

• WWI Italy destroyer Indomito or Pilo-class: I would like the WWI Italian fleet to have a full-sized destroyer. The Soldato-class that GHQ produces is more of a torpedo boat rather than a destroyer.

• WWII Japan heavy cruiser Maya, late-war appearance: This Takao class heavy cruiser was badly damaged at Rabaul. After repairs, the ruined “C” turret had been replaced by two additional twin 5-inch mounts. Although this is a single ship, I think the interest in Japanese cruisers is enough to make this a good choice for GHQ’s production.

• WWI UK battlecruiser Renown-class: This was the last class of battlecruisers completed during the Great War. Repulse saw combat in the First World War when she participated in the Second Battle of Heligoland Bight. Although CinC makes a model of this class, GHQ’s would be better

• WWII UK light cruisers Scylla and Charybdis: These two ships were nominally part of the Dido class, but because of shortage of the 5.25-inch guns that were to have been their main armament, they each received four twin 4.5-inch anti-aircraft guns instead. Sometimes referred to as “toothless,” they proved excellent anti-aircraft escorts and saw significant combat.

• WWII USA attack transport Harris (APA 2) class: Sixteen medium-sized passenger liners were built at the end of WWI to the “Design 1029” standard, also known as the “dollar design” and the “President 535-foot” design. Most operated as merchant liners between the wars, were taken over by the Army in 1940 and transferred to the Navy in 1942. Four were sold outside the US in the late 1930s, one remained in service with the Army, three were sunk as Navy transport ships before conversion to attack transports, and eight were converted into attack transports. I would prefer these modeled as attack transports with the military transport second choice, but the civil version would be OK.

Alright, this is lifted straight from my previous wish-list. I'm sure there are things I'd love that I've missed off this list, so this list is probably going to grow
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Ultra-Modern - Australia
Hawkei PMV – 4x4 light armoured vehicle used in various recon, command and transport roles
G-Wagon 6×6 Surveillance Reconnaissance Vehicles (SRV) – 6x6 open top variant of the G-Wagon used as by recon and SOF forces – Modern replacement for the venerable Land Rover Perentie

Ultra-Modern - Russia
KamAZ-63968 Typhoon-K – 6x6 MRAP (Armoured bus)
KamAZ-53949 Typhoon-L – 4x4 MRAP
URAL-63095 or URAL-63099 Typhoon – 6x6 MRAP

Cold War/Vietnam - Australia
M113AS1 – M113 as used in Australian service from Vietnam until mid 2000’s
International ACCO – 2.5t GST 4x4 Truck used by Australia during Vietnam war and up until late 1980’s
Australian Infantry – As seen in Vietnam – infantry in jungle greens with SLR, bush hat and light-order kit. Also suitable for Bush Wars, SADF or tropical British.
Series 2/3 Land Rover – LWB – Soft-top 4x4 used as a troop carrier by the UK, Australia and all manner of other forces.
Series 2/3 Land Rover – SWB – Open-top 4x4 used as a gun-car and recce vehicle by the UK, Australia and all manner of other forces. Mixed pack – ½ with 106mm RCL and half with soft top.

Cold War/Vietnam - Israel
MAR-290 – 290mm Multiple Rocket Launcher mounted on either a Sherman or Centurion hull. The Sherman launcher was a steel framework around the launcher, whereas the Centurion had tubes mounted. I’d prefer the Sherman mount, but I’m easy
M4 Sherman Ambutank – Either HVSS with the raised superstructure, or VVSS M4A1 with rear doors. Again, I’m easy
M38A1 – Light 4x4 vehicle used for recce or as a weapons platform. Ideally would see release in a similar form to the Willys or Mutt packs with a split of MG cars and 106mm RCL cars. Also saw extensive use with the US, NATO forces and Iran amongst others.
M3 Halftrack with SS11 – M3 halftrack with SS11 ATGM mounted on enclosed roof
Makmat 120mm – 120mm mortar mounted on a M3 halftrack
Soltam M-66 – 160mm mortar mounted on a M4 Sherman chassis
M107 self-propelled gun – 175mm SPG. Also saw extensive use with the US, NATO forces and Iran amongst others.
M110 self-propelled gun – 203mm SPG. Also saw use with the US, NATO forces and Iran amongst others.

Cold War/Vietnam - Soviet/WarPac
BRDM-1 – Soviet post-war recce vehicle. Saw extensive use throughout WarPac and Arab forces before the introduction of the BRDM-2
2P26 – Early Soviet ATGM 4x4. Saw combat use with Egypt during the Six Day War
IS-3M – Soviet post-war heavy tank. Saw combat use with Egypt during the Six Day War (although I'm currently making do with the lovely WW2 era IS-3 sculpt)
122mm M-30 howitzer – Soviet howitzer with appropriate tow (Zil-157?)
152mm D-1 howitzer – Soviet howitzer with appropriate tow (Zil-157?)

Splod,

Post a request for folks who no longer need their BRDM-1s. GHQ used to make 'em. Folks may sell 'em to you. I have had great success with discontinued items doing this.

You can clip the barrel of GHQ's M110A2 to make M110s. Alternatively, Legions4Hire in Canada makes the old CinC M110 and the M107. The chassis were the same and it was not unusual for M110s to get a replacement M107 barrel and vice versa.

Contact Chrisswim and see what he can do for these particular items. He may have some he's willing to part with until GHQ comes through.
