The MLP is not a solution by itself, it's just a piece of the overall concept....a tool.
BTW - the USN is now calling these ships Expeditionary Transfer Docks (ESDs), but the ROD is sticking with the original MLP designation.

Well to us at the RCN it is, as our Amphibious program is still in its infancy, we have yet to acquire a Tawana Class LHA and a Thomaston-class for the LSD. The Arisgator AAVs are here as evident by the photos. We are planning to organize a Amphibious Support Fleet to handle the huge logistical work load needed for the program.

Re: New imagiNation arm race
Mech, why do you fight every piece of information you are given. These ships are transfer docks. They are used to unload and transfer vehicles to the beach for larger vehicle transport ships that do not have the capability to land vehicles on the beach. It helps get more equipment on shore without a viable port to unload equipment.
I think what redleg is saying, just having these ships is only part of the equation. If you only buy these, they do not add capability. Essentially they are useless.

I actually have done research into these type of ships. They are designed to help with the logistic side of things by mooring a Cargoship along side it and then transferring the cargo to the MLP and it get hauled away Via LCACs.

Which is exactly what both redleg and I said. But when he pointed that out to you, your response did not indicate that you agreed with him.
Redleg:

You:
'Well to us at the RCN it is"
Mech,. You are a very confusing person. Maybe that is your plan, to confuse us all. In that arena, you are winning

Ah, the Josef Goebbels approach. Repeat the lie often enough and people will think it is true. A lot of that going around here, too.

An alternate idea that could work is to use the old Mulberry harbour method of rapidly offloading cargo to shore by building a prefab harbour that will allow the cargoships to dock and unload their cargo.

Build you Mulberries. Just be aware of the weather those storms can knock the $hit out of a Mulberry, I've seen it done. Not a pretty sight.
You can transport 40-60 Mulberries to Malaysia, South Africa, etc. If you have them built ready to move you may wish to consider 60 on each side of NC.
Do not worry about any potential opponent sending a plane, submarine and/or a DDG to sink some of them, they won't attack you or the Mulberries.

Towing mulberries across the Atlantic or Pacific... I want to watch that.

They will not be towed but carried by a Heavy lift vessel.

Re: New imagiNation arm race
So let me get this strait.. You are going to add to your supply issue by building Mulberry Bridge by needing to transport pieces of an artificial harbor. Not to mention, these pieces are huge and heavy, which is why they were floated into place.
Those pieces take up a lot of space and you need a lot of them to get deep draft ships to be able to dock with them. Not to mention, if a storm hits while in use, these artificial ports were not stable enough to withstand and as a result, were abandoned. So now your looking at a potential one Use system.. Not sure any nation could afford to do that.
I think you need to think about how you will operate your amphibious forces. Do you really need to land battalions or can you land smaller forces. To be fair, even with the MLP ships, it would take a while to dump a battalion or more. Even to dump a company or more on a beach.

As an Island Nation, Karmanaskis maintains a limited amphibious capability to help with it's defensive needs.
The backbone has been the 550' Fearsome class LPD with three in service and one under construction.
They are supported by three 500' landing ship dock (auxiliary) and normally two or three other contracted Ro-ro ferry type vessels.
The flagship of the fleet is the new LHD based on the Canberra class at almost 800'. The second of that class is almost ready for commissioning.
There is also a sizeable commercial fleet to draw on if needed.

They will not be towed but carried by a Heavy lift vessel.
So the RCN will have 60 ships (just using a number) with the Mulberries sitting on them for an Atlantic deployment and similar number for a Pacific deployment. The resources just sitting there. Heck, he only needs one transport and/or landing ship to move all of the NC armor and AFVs. Maybe a dozen tanks, along with 50 APCs and recon vehicles. Really offensive capability hdon’t you think.
Hoth, that was well thought out, reasonable, and accurate.
PG, the CoC would like to invite you when the Mulberries set sail since you don’t have a navy.

Re: New imagiNation arm race
All this expansion is very disturbing, and in light of it, the GS Joint Chiefs have decided on additions to its armed forces.
Over the next year, GS will form an airmobile battalion, deployable by parachute, helicopter, or V22. This battalion may be expanded to a brigade.
In addition to the three existing attack helicopter battalions, the aviation establishment will acqire 2 attack helicopter battalions (AH64), a medium lift battalion (UH60), and a heavy lift battalion (CH47). Should the airmobile battalion expand, the lift units will be expanded appropriately.
The Marine battalion will re-equip with AAVPs, and the bulk of its current LAV25s transferred to a newly-formed cavalry reconnaissance squadron. A small number of V22s will form a Marine aviation section to lift one Marine infantry company.
Strong efforts wll be made to acquire sufficient M114s or M113s to form an armored cavalry regiment with the Sheridans currently forming two light tank battalions.
Between 4 and 8 mech battalions will be added, mounted in M113s and M2s to support the armored group and the MBT70 battalions.
Three to 6 additional 155SP battalions and 3 MLRS battalions will be acquired.
GS is investigationg the possibility of acquiring a quantity of armored reconnaissance scout vehicles, an additional battalion of MBT70s, 3 battalions of XM723 MICVs, and two battaions of General Motors XM1 w/120mm gun.
Inspection teams have been going over a find of T97s for possible addition to our forces.
In light of the Chrisdom Hegemony's intercontinental air reach, GS is examining acquisition of several different high altitude, long range air defense systems, as well as increasing the number of existing ADA systems.
GS is establishing a live-fire training area a la the US NTC, with cooperation of the US, in the disused part of the Frances E Warren AFB reservation, formerly a US Army cavalry post, Ft. D A Russell. This will enable large-scale maneuver, as well as live fire gunnery.
