Good, interesting book

Post by panzergator »

Just got "Battlegroup! The Lessons of the Unfought Battles of the Cold War" by Jim Storr.

This is a GOLD MINE of information! It is from the British perspective, but discussesand ** CENSORED ** the major allies. It contains info from doctrine to tank characteristics, frontages for units, how a battle position is set up, REFORGER exercise, philosophy of cavalry use, and so much more. If you wargame or collect the Cold War, you must have this one, I have been studying this stuff for a long time, lived it for a while, too, in the Fulda Gap twice, and in US Armor officer course and Command and General Staff College. I wish I'd had this book to read as a second lieutenant. I can't say I agree with everything the author says, but THIS is a GREAT BOOK.

Highly recommended!.

Over the last year I’ve been using Thriftbooks - little cheaper for most books but they’re used - and found this for $37.97 (not incl. shipping)
