The barbed wire is made of very fine .28 galvanized steel wire wrapped around an 1/8" dowel. You can find the wire in the beading section of your local art supply or craft store such as Joannes or Michaels.

The bases are styrene with either styrene i beams, or round or square rods from evergreen glued on. I paint the wire dark gray and rust and superglue it to the rods.

Obviously finish the bases prior to adding the wire because it is a pain to paint around and through. (Learned the hard way on my first batch.)

New concertina wire is galvanized steel so I suppose you could leave it unfinished depending on the effect you want.
Tactics are the opinion of the senior officer present.

Jump start this thread a little…

I am close to wrapping up my pair of CH53s for the November build a helicopter thread so I thought I would post these in the ‘Nam thread as well. (models are slightly modified)

The magnets and bases are doing all they can to keep the CH53s in the air. Need to exercise a little more care when handling.

Pibber,
Welcome back..missed you and seeing your great work. We are all appreciative of you sharing your work...sometimes an inspiration and other times depressing, but fabulous none the less.
How did you do the buildings wit metal roofs, steps and materials, please? They are amazing.
Chris

(just a remark : I prefer your pictures without the "flash" of your camera : I thiink your models looks greater in this way  )
