I wanted to start something similar to the M60 Page from Redleg. Attached below is all my M1 Abrams. I am currently trying to finish these off completely.. This means a lot of treads to be painted and road wheels just to get started.

He organizes his stuff into hordes, not battalions.

However many you can ft into whatever size box is a horde. You don't even KNOW how many boxes you have.

Panzer,

After talking to you and redleg, I think I need many more M1s to round out my Ratio of M1s with Mine plows to those without. Got a little carried away.. Seems like a good enough excuse to buy more M1s LOL. Because stripping a few and moving the mine plows to the M1A1s on the left side wouldn't make way more sense. LOL

Why do you want or need mine plows?

PG, I have almost half as many boxes as I need. I do not have much more aspiration for territorial demand.

The preceding test bed for the M1, the MBT-70.

How does the tan camo for the desert work for the snow or the green flora?

Love the mine plow on this Abrams.

The paint seems a bit old and worn, the branches work.

Hoth, you don't need an excuse to buy more tanks. You just need money. Mine develop their own requirement. I am always trying to get a complete unit, meaning a battalion. As soon as I get a complete tank battalion, Chris sends me a box and throws in a couple odd tanks and I'm off to the races again. I know it is part of his strategy to keep me buying old stuff from him. I've had to INVENT a light armored brigade to employ TWO BATTALIONS of old sculpt Sheridans (without gun tubs). They will EVENTUALLY be squadrons of an H series ACR, but I don't have the mortars, scouts, or arty yet. (Have the tank companies).

I don't know what the basis of issue for mine plows is/was. In peace timwe, blades were one per company, usually on the "5" tank - the second tank in the company headquarters. I would want one per platoon, I think.

The more pressing problem I have is the ratio of tanks to infantry. My first brigade was 3d Bde, 3AD, 2 tank, 1 mech. I started out behind. I've been reading about armored units being short infantry back through WWII for years. I'm trying to get a better infantry ratio. There is also my arty shortage to address (I need at least 7 155Sp bns, 4 6-piece 8-inch bns, and 4 MLRS bns for a credible arty establishment that supports my line units. I also need 3 - 4 more atk helo battalions now. I don't know my strategy for adding infantry, but it will include at least one airborne bn, 2 STRYKER bns (CURSES!), and a Marine infantry bn mounted in AAVPs or the new amphibious vehicle, if I can find an stl file.

All of this, of course, makes a 3D resin printer extremely cost effective, because, no matter how much I might prefer to have te GHQ stuff, I can't afford it. My son, who has done the research, recommends the Phrozen.

Panzer,

I have enough discretionary funds to buy enough that exceeds my ability to paint what I buy in a timely manner. Lol.... Although a nice resin printer sounds fun. Sadly my engineering brain is yells at me every time I see the little lines. 🤪

Well, I probably won't get mine painted before my expiration date. In any case, PM your address so I can send you something.

My ambitions are greater than my capacity to paint and store at the moment. Like the real Army, I always think I need more than I can have. The collection really does drive its own expansion.

This is a great thread! And an excuse for me to pull all my M1s out and play with them! You have some fine looking armor Hoth and Chris! I’ll get some pics of my tanks this weekend, but in the meantime, here are a few shots of my M1s. Sadly, I’m only running M1A1s and M1A2s at the moment. I will need to acquire some TUSK versions in the future!

My Marine tank battalion: 4 companies plus the HQ tanks.

Panzer,

I can certainly get what I have painted Before my expiration date, but probably not everything I want to buy. I look back and wish I did not put my hobby on hold for so many years. Even worse, I started back up 10 years ago and plugged along at a snails pace till recently.. Now my eyes are starting to go so I may sometime soon have to scale back on the level of detail I try to paint.... but that could be a good thing because I would get more done...Hmmm. By the way, PM sent... Let me know if you got it.

Chris good work on the horde.

Redleg, great work.. Always love to see your formations.
