Yup. I have the Clancy book. It jived with my other references. The Armor School used to publish a student text for use in courses with basic TOEs. It was usually refreshed every two years or so. From personal experience, I knew tank battalions in the '70s and through study, I go back through WWII and forward until 1986, when I CHOOSE to stop. These student texts cover other units, as well - arty, mech, cav, infantry. I use other references as well.

If you collect, as I do, you find you have to choose an era or you will go nuts AND broke. I have 2 E series mech battalions equipped with M59s, a G series mech battalion with M113s, 6 H series mech battalions, 1 J series mech battalion with M113A2s, 1 mech bn with YPR765s ( with the MBT70s), and two M2 bns. Once the printer gets up and running, there will be XM723 bns for the MBT 70s.

But you see the problem... I have had to find a lot of references and then look for specific information. When did the M41s in scout platoons become M48s? What model M48? 11th ACR gave up its M48s at Ft.Meade before it went to VN. When did they get them back? When was 14th ACR reflagged to 11th ACR. When were M114s withdrawn from each of the cav units? When did the platoons lose their Blues squads? At any rate, I can't just pull it out of my head anymore.

If I can, I plan to scan the student manuals to pdf and see if I can send them to interested folks here on the forum. There are some obstacles

This emplacement was similar ground color/pattern as above, my plan was to flock it. We’ll need to do it someday.

Looking cool Chris- I like them! What are you using for the barrels? Or whatever the cylinder shapes are supposed to represent?

Wolfman, (trying a small bit of humor)
They a part of the piece, each is one piece cast. Here are other pictures. The multi-color is my attempt to show different color of dirt. I did black wash these. I should black wash the others. My evaluation with multicolor dirt…. good idea, good attempt … not there yet. Perhaps closer color shades. Ideas???

Cav,

Looking good. I think I might put some foliage on my Tank Emplacements. Maybe some grassy ground cover.

Chris, when I have colored my “dirt”I always dry brushed with a light beige color or something like that to make it pop. I also like gluing flock on there too.

Do you do any bunkers?
