Lines are there because I printed at 30 degrees or less to speed up printing.
But if you print at 45 degrees it’s less pronounced but still there.
Think the 8k gets rid of the lines.
You only see line when zoomed in.

It refers to the resolution of the screen. The Elegoo Saturn is a common printer used by people printing for wargaming which has a 4k screen. Some higher end retail models are starting to explore 8k screens. Very simply, the higher the resolution, the finer level of detail the printer is capable of printing.
There's a bit of an explainer here if you want more details.

I have no place to put a resin printer so it's strictly filament for me. With my printer you def get lines. I've bought good prints off Shapeways and the same. Even resin will have some, but they get less noticeable the better the printers get.
I only really intend to print terrain anyway. I have all the minis I'll ever want, I only add to the collection becasue I like painting. But def switching much more to terrain....

Re: Aug 2022 Price Rise
Like a lot of you, I will continue to be a GHQ customer when they offer models that I am interested in. I think I've said this before but I would replace 3D printed models with GHQ versions. 3D models are very lightweight and break easily. However, I know that a lot of ships/vehicles/aircraft that I am interested in will never be produced by GHQ and wargaming won't wait.
Speaking of wargaming, does anyone know of a 3D print of a 1/2400 scale Gabbiano class corvette, Italian or German oil tankers? I'm trying to set up some convoy battle scenarios.

Once thing cool about 3D printing is you can change the scale of any STL. If you find a 1/700 STL then you can change and print in 1/2400.regia-marina wrote: ↑Wed Jul 27, 2022 12:10 amLike a lot of you, I will continue to be a GHQ customer when they offer models that I am interested in. Re: Aug 2022 Price Rise
I will always be willing to purchase GHQ for several reasons already mentioned. I just recently received my Phrozen 8k. The print detail is comparable to GHQ ground. Some aircraft prints are superior to GHQ. The durability of the resin is not even close. I will do my part to help GHQ continuing purchases. But... I just printed 15, F-104 Star Fighters yesterday. 5 in 1-200 & 10 in 1-285. No print lines and prefect recessed panels. All different weapons packages and 2 variants. Estimated "consumables" cost is around $3 with a topline resin. This morning printed a 15mm AWI brigade. Have a 1-1200 ** CENSORED ** and Independence running in it now. This is something all casting manufactures are going to have to try and survive. If I had to bet, GHQ will last much longer than others. Even at 8K, as resin print can not compare to a 1-2400 GHQ WWI or WWII gun ship casting.

Splod
What's censored for CV9 is its name, because of the last three letters.
