Wish list 2023-2024

Post by Brutzel »

The production list for 2022-23 is here. Is it time for a wish list for 2023/24? I hope so. Of course, it is always difficult for GHQ to make a right selection of models for everyone. I have looked at various publications of vehicles. Below I have created a list of vehicles that interest me. I hope that the list will be expanded by you so that GHQ has a lot of choice.

GHQ could expand its "what if" line with modern vehicles. Vehicles that are offered by companies and may not always be produced. However, these vehicles may be well integrated into their own GHQ armed forces. Is there a market for it? GHQ also produces vehicles that were perhaps only 8 times in an army. For example, the Boxer variants, which have not yet been produced, but can be seen on the Internet as prototypes.

I'll just repost, what remains from my Whishlist from the previous years:

- Alpha Jet (with pointed and round nosecone options)
- Wiesel 1/2
- stowage for 1/2400 cargo ships (tanks, trucks, crates etc...)

and three new additions:
- Boxer command vehicle
- TB2 Bayraktar
- Mogador-class destroyers (little hope for those as there were only 2 in class, but it's the only thing missing from "Force de Raid")

Alright, this is lifted straight from my previous wish-lists. I'm sure there are things I'd love that I've missed off this list, so this list is probably going to grow
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Ultra-Modern - Australia
Hawkei PMV – 4x4 light armoured vehicle used in various recon, command and transport roles
G-Wagon 6×6 Surveillance Reconnaissance Vehicles (SRV) – 6x6 open top variant of the G-Wagon used as by recon and SOF forces – Modern replacement for the venerable Land Rover Perentie

Ultra-Modern - Russia
KamAZ-63968 Typhoon-K – 6x6 MRAP (Armoured bus)
KamAZ-53949 Typhoon-L – 4x4 MRAP
URAL-63095 or URAL-63099 Typhoon – 6x6 MRAP

Cold War/Vietnam - Australia
M113AS1 – M113 as used in Australian service from Vietnam until mid 2000’s
International ACCO – 2.5t 4x4 Truck used by Australia during Vietnam war and up until late 1980’s
Australian Infantry – As seen in Vietnam – infantry in jungle greens with SLR, bush hat and light-order kit. Also suitable for Bush Wars, SADF or tropical British
Series 2/3 Land Rover – LWB – Soft-top 4x4 used as a troop carrier by the UK, Australia and all manner of other forces
Series 2/3 Land Rover – SWB – Open-top 4x4 used as a gun-car and recce vehicle by the UK, Australia and all manner of other forces. Mixed pack – ½ with 106mm RCL and half with soft top

Cold War/Vietnam - Israel
MAR-290 – 290mm Multiple Rocket Launcher mounted on either a Sherman or Centurion hull. The Sherman launcher was a steel framework around the launcher, whereas the Centurion had tubes mounted. I’d prefer the Sherman mount, but I’m easy
M4 Sherman Ambutank – Either HVSS with the raised superstructure, or VVSS M4A1 with rear doors. Again, I’m easy
M38A1 – Light 4x4 vehicle used for recce or as a weapons platform. Ideally would see release in a similar form to the Willys or Mutt packs with a split of MG cars and 106mm RCL cars. Also saw extensive use with the US, NATO forces and Iran amongst others
M3 Halftrack with SS11 – M3 halftrack with SS11 ATGM mounted on enclosed roof
Makmat 120mm – 120mm mortar mounted on a M3 halftrack
Soltam M-66 – 160mm mortar mounted on a M4 Sherman chassis
M107 self-propelled gun – 175mm SPG. Also saw extensive use with the US, NATO forces and Iran amongst others
M110 self-propelled gun – 203mm SPG. Also saw use with the US, NATO forces and Iran amongst others

Cold War/Vietnam - Soviet/WarPac
BRDM-1 – Soviet post-war recce vehicle. Saw extensive use throughout WarPac and Arab forces before the introduction of the BRDM-2
2P26 – Early Soviet ATGM 4x4. Saw combat use with Egypt during the Six Day War
ZU-57-2 – Early Soviet tracked SPAA. While GHQ currently do one, it is definitely showing it's age and is probably due a refresh
IS-3M – Soviet post-war heavy tank. Saw combat use with Egypt during the Six Day War (although I'm currently making do with the lovely WW2 era IS-3 sculpt)
MT-55 - T-55 based armoured vehicle-launched bridge (AVLB). Widely used by Soviet, WarPac and Arab forces from the 1960s to today. Bridge base is a two-part 'scissor' design
MTU-20 - T-54/55 based AVLB. Widely used by Soviet, WarPac and Arab forces from the 1960s to today. Uses similar bridge to that found on GHQ's current T-72 bridge layer model, being a single span with folding ramps at either end
122mm M-30 howitzer – Soviet howitzer with appropriate tow (Zil-157?)
152mm D-1 howitzer – Soviet howitzer with appropriate tow (Zil-157?)

I think the "Wolf" is too short an the superstructures are also too conventional.
A conversion would be too difficult.
I tried it on a model.

I think since we're still waiting on any of the platforms from 2022-2023 to arrive apart from the first wave, we might just be seeing a release of the next batches between now and the middle of 2024... kind of surprising that the delay in releases is so chronic but I suppose that's the wonders of having an audience that's eagerly awaiting the stuff promised!

Anyway, what I'd like to see.

Mostly infantry related, because there's a number of different designs that could be introduced. As we've seen the infantry models made recently have been very, very good!

Cold War Warriors - US Army - Infantry with M16A1/A2 and M14 rifles, M79 Thumper and M72 LAW, command figure and radio operator.
Cold War Warriors - US Army heavy weapons - TOW Operators, 106mm Recoilless Rifle operators, M2HB MG, 107mm mortar, 81mm mortar.
Cold War Warriors - US Army support weapons - M67 90mm recoilless Rifle operators, FIM-43 RedEye MANPADS, M60 on mount and M21 Sniper team.

I'd like to see a bunch of Third World Warriors equipment, with the uniforms and helmets being in the same style as the current 'Third World Regulars'... so they can be mixed and matched by an order of magnitude!

Third World Warrirors - Bushwar Soldiers - R4 Rifle, L4 BREN machine gun, M-79 grenade gunner, R4 with Rifle Grenade, M72 LAW operator.
Third World Warriors - Bushwar Support Weapons - FN MAG soldier, 2-inch mortar mortar operator, Milkor MGL operator, Carl Gustav operator.
Third World Warriors - Bushwar Heavy Weapons - M2HB, 106mm recoilless rifle, 4.2 inch mortar, NTW-20 AMR operator, Flamethrower operator.

Third World Warriors - Arab Spring Soldiers - AK-series weapons, AK with underslung GP-30 grenade launcher, RPG-7 and RPG-18 gunners, RPK MG.
Third World Warriors - Arab Spring Support Weapons - RPG-29 gunner, PKM gunner (walking with slung weapon and firing on bipod), SA-7 or SA-14 MANPADS, AT-14 operator.
Third World Warriors - Arab Spring Heavy Weapons - ZPU-1 Heavy MG, 82mm Vasilyek auto-mortar position, 'Toophan' TOW position, Saeghe-2 'Dragon' Gunner position, HS.50 AMR sniper team.

VEHICLES:

Third World Warriors - EE-3 Jararaca. I make my own by using Fox chassis and EE-9 commander turrets, but it would be nice to have an official model.
Third World Warriors - EE-1 Osorio MBT - A bit of a WHAT-IF, but it came VERY close to being produced!
Third World Warriors - ASTROS II MLRS - Brazilian design used in the Middle East and a number of other places in Asia.

US: Stryker IM-SHORADS
US: MADIS MK1 and MK2 air defence vehicles
US: M1299 Artillery cannon
US: MPT Light Tank
US: LAV-M modified to carry the new HERO-120 loitering munitions launcher.
US: A pack of various CROWS RWS, some with .50 cal, some with 40mm AGL, some with .50cal and Javelin, some with 30mm and Javelin.

RUSSIA: BMD-2, we have the BMD-1,3 and 4, but no 2!
BMD-2M Berezhok - New BMD-2 turret with a twin AT-14 launcher in place of the AT-3 ATGM.
BMD-3M Berezhok - Improved BMD-3 with a 30mm cannon and twin AT-14 launchers.
BTR-MDM - the APC version of the BTR-4
BTR-MDM with KORNET launchers 9P162M (twin launchers like the Tigr KORNET) and 'Kornet D-1' with four missiles and a targeting system.

CHINA:
Any of the Menghsi CSK-181 series vehicles.
PG-99 35mm cannon AA guns, Type 815 radar system and trucks.
PCL-181, PCL-161 and PHL-191 artillery systems
CSA-6B SAM system, Supporting radar system and LD-2000 gatling gun vehicle.
More ZBL-09 series vehicles.
ZBD-03 Airborne IFV.

I agree with that and would like to see the same thing with items as well, like the German Panther G tanks.
