Paint Match

Post by chrisswim »

Match Matching: I have been on a quest for over a year to match colors of paints that I used for my modern micro armor.
I had used Model Masters (MM) paints, both spray and bottle. These are not being produced as an oil based paint. These were my primary paints, used this brand more than any other. I would almost always use the/a spray can as my base color. Since it was oil based, I did not need to prime. If I added other colors with MM, I did not seal. If I used a water-based paint, wash, etc., Then I would seal.

To match paint color put a bit of medium green paint of stir stick, it needs enough paint covering an inch where the wood doesn’t show through.. They matched it up, My batch was interior water-based in medium green. So need to prime and seal.

I have matched medium green and dark tan with Behr paint, Interior.
Both Interior and Exterior are identified as Paint + Primer.
My next two colors dark green and military brown I used Exterior paint, but water based.
One guy said I would need to be in Nevada or CA to get exterior Oil based paint.
I will need to Air Brush, acquisition, then get that set up.

If you have any questions, let me know.
Chris
