Surface actions in the Solomons offer a fascinating perspective, so I resumed painting ships for this campaign (BTW, thanks to the person who took the time to add a welcome back message to my order. Quality of service is par with that of your models

)
So here is what I've added :
4 US "light" cruisers (Brooklyn and Cleveland classes ships technically fit the name, but they certainly can give a run for their money to heavy cruisers!

)
3 Cleveland class and a Brooklyn class. I certainly took profit of last month's specials, thank you.
2 IJN light cruisers, Jintsu & Agano. 15 years of naval evolution between these types...
this allows me to have 2 1943 US Crudivs
"Pug" Ainsworth's
And "Tip" Merrill's
Pics are a bit smallish - the host provides a free service, but it has its limitations. You'll find bigger ones there :

As well as a few more ramblings. Cheers!

Wonderful job on those ships! I hope to see them in a game?
Just finished three various books on the land/sea battles around the Solomon’s and was embarrassed. I did not realize the extent of the naval action and losses, and frankly how well the Japanese did given some of the technological disparities…. Always good to keep treading and exploring!

More warships for my project, all of them ill-fated in various ways.
3 cruisers lost at Savo, Quincy, Vincennes & Canberra
Quincy
Vincennes
Canberra
Myoko that took part in 1943 battles
And 3 E-Class DDs, 2 of which were lost at Java Sea
All models from GHQ. Bigger pics on my blog, as usual.

Tnaks eveyone for your kind words!
Rummaging though my pile of forgotten stuff, a few days ago, I stumbled upon an incomplete model of an Atlanta class criuiser (6 5" turrets missing). Since I'd got a bunch of Cleveland class last summer, I'd just enough of these left over to complete that model
So, here it is, with a tutorial at the end of my post on the way I do camo.

I like how you did your labels, is that decoupage to fix them to the bottom? Do you have a template you could share?

That is truly great work on the Atlanta, Foxbat! The camo work is top notch.
I have made a couple small attempts to paint this basic scheme years ago. No two ships were painted exactly the same as the pattern varied a lot from ship to ship. I may try again at some point. I always love to see your work here on the Forum.

Thanks. I really appreciate your praise, keeps me striving to keep up. To be honest regarding the ship's camo accuracy, I just got inspired from her pic at Midway. The scale is so small I could just follow a general idea of it.

Yes, Foxbat, trying to get the camo pattern on exactly is very tough. All we can do is do our best and try to get it to look good.
