Hey guys - I need some advice / assistance!
I decided that I can't live without a 1/2400 scale port facility for my micronauts. I built a very simple one many years ago - a basic 2' x 2' piece of wood with some blue paint and popsicle stick docks. It really sucked, and now I need to go bigger and better!
Mick (7.62 on the forum) made an awesome board for his port facility, and then while searching the internet for ideas I came across this one in 1/1200 scale: https://shipphotographs.wordpress.com/1 ... e-harbour/
I have a 4' x 8' piece of plywood on the way for my harbor (1/2 inch thick), but here is my question: Will a piece of lumber like that warp if it is painted and it has stuff glued to it? Do I need a frame underneath to keep it from warping when painted, or is 1/2 inch thick enough to keep its shape?

Half-inch plywood should be plenty stiff for what you plan.

Yep should be ok, depends on how you plan to store it Mike.
My 1/4" board tends to warp a bit. When I expand my port, I think I will go with a separate blue base and build the land sections on commercial vinyl floor tiles. That way I can store them in a cupboard to keep it clean and dust free.

Thanks, fellas! I'm going to start experimenting with surface texture this week!
