How many use the 10mm ACW and enjoy the size. Debating 10mm versus 15mm and not sure how many people are really using 10mm?

I use 10mm ACW because its just the right size for painting and detail. The horses are also great with detail and I have wagon and limbers for the arty. My problem is painting. Just too much work in trying to do detail painting. I`d like to see more diversity in charging cavalry and infantry (that is poses).

I use them exclusively for ACW gaming. If you look on the "Show us your Stuff", thread you can see many pics I have posted of my games there.

I use 10mm Rebellion Minis, with Fire & Fury rules. Have been for years.

I use the 15s for ACW. I would use the 10's except for the fact that I have thousands of the 15s . This makes it real hard for me to switch to the 10s. If you don't know it already I do play 1 to 1 and lately 1 to 5 with them. This is the reason for having so many.
If it counts I am going to the 10s for Napoleanics,1 to 5 scale. We recently found out that our first order to be painted was lost somehow . This we learned 2 months plus after the fact(not to include the 500USD plus in cost) . Yes they were insured,track and confirmed. USPS said they were delivered. The paint service (I will leave unamed until resolution) says they weren't . We will see...

Thanks everyone. Makes me feel more comfortable knowing others are using 10mm. I figure if I go 10mm ACW then the Napleonic group will also be 10mm.

I have been a collector of WWII and Modern 1/285thfor nearly 20 years off and on, but now I am looking for something new. I am trying to decide between ACW and Napoleonics. I flirted briefly with WWII Naval. Any recomendations? I like the Napoleonics better asthetically, but the tactics in the ACW seem more nuanced.

I'm going to focus on Napoleonic first. I like calvary and they used plenty of it back then.

I use 15mm for my ACW because of the variety of choices. Plus they have better detail but don't take up too much room. Fairly cheap to buy, easy to paint (especially if you "outsource" it like me). I have some 3ftx6ft terrain tables for different battles and a set of six boards under construction for a large battle.

I prefer 10mm from GHQ - IMHO the best on the market

For buildings in 10mm or 15mm I highly recommend Table Top Towns. I just received a beautiful set of 15mm buildings already painted (the way I like them). Pictures of the terrain board will be posted when I am finished.

I played 15mm for many years but have found I really much prefer the 10mm. GHQs figures have more detail than most 15mm figures.

You can put more units on the table than 15mm and the look to me just seems more realistic. With more units on the table you feel like you are moving Brigades and Divisions and manuever becomes more important.

GHQ is publishing their own American Civil War Rules, due out the end of September.

I am also looking forward to the new rules. As for the 10's from GHQ - the best artillery sculp's period, any scale

...I am sure that the GHQ figures are great like so many of their products. Unfortunately for me I am confirmed into 15s. I play 1 to 1 scale and lately 1 to 5 scale tactical level.
On the 1 to 1 scale we have used up to a brigade on each side. Some of these battles have been Dunkard church(Antetiem or Sharpsburg depending on where you are from),The Railroad line(second Bull run) ,the Vineyard house (Chickamauga),and McPherson's ridge (Gettysburg),to name just a few. These battles or parts of the larger mentioned are VERY IMPRESSIVE to say the least at the 1 to 1 level.
I of course had to devise my own rules(ACW Brigade Commander),because there just ain't a none out there depicting ACW tactical level. Anyways,I must have about 2000+,so I really can't conceive the idea of switching over to another scale

I'd love to buy the 10mm but I have hundreds of the 15mm. The figs by GHQ are beautiful to be sure. Unless I win the lottery I'll stay with the 15's.
