As it is now, the system allows operation units to jump from a height of about ten kilo-metres and to cover a distance of up to 40 kilometres carrying up to 100 kilogrammes of equipment. Parachutists can thus penetrate into areas that are difficult to reach without their transport planes having to fly into a danger zone. At the same time, tracing this almost 100% silent parachute system using air or ground-based radar systems is extremely difficult. Night operations or operations under adverse weather conditions are possible.

Yeah, I saw that article in Businessweek as well. Pretty nifty stuff if you ask me. Damn near Batman-esque

BTW, also in that issue is a cardboard model of the Transamerica building. I'm sure I can rework that to use in a microarmor game.
I wish I had something witty to say...

Kinda reminds me of that film from the early 1900s of a guy with similar looking wings jumping off a bridge and taking the direct route to the drink.

They had a little blurb on this in the latest AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association) Magazine. They had an aerial shot of a guy flying this thing under Red Bull corporate sponsorship. I wonder if the auditions for that gig were anything like the dude on the Slim Jim commercials.

...I just saw a James Bond movie with something very similar. The real differance was that they laid atop of it ,like a "flying sled"...but it was pretty much the same thing...
