2-8-0 request
I am a free lancer, but I would love to see either a kit to modernize Athearn's Northern Pacific 2-8-0 or one to back-date Bachmann's Harimann 2-8-0

I don't have all that much interest in the Athearn/MDC 2-8-0 off hand but replacement boilers for the Bachmann Spectrum 2-8-0 would be very welcome to me. The biggest thing I would change would be the sand box, which just doesn't work for my part of the country (most local roads had smaller sand boxes). Even if there were just detail parts to alter the look of the stock model I believe that there would be a good bit of interest.
But if I were to need a lighter 2-8-0 (using the Athearn/MDC model) I would want to do similar alterations as was done by Andrew Hegstad to built a NP F-1. Definitely a beautiful model overall!!!

Re: 2-8-0 request
The problem with 2-8-0s is that many were 56-57" driver machines. The Bachmann is a 63" driver and the MDC / Athearn 52"...... Same as the Kato USRA Mikado and LifeLike USRA 0-8-0 respectively.twister wrote:I am a free lancer, but I would love to see either a kit to modernize Athearn's Northern Pacific 2-8-0 or one to back-date Bachmann's Harimann 2-8-0
I'd like to suggest a new boiler / cab that would fit the MiniTrix 0-6-0. There are plenty of these still out there and, if a new motor/gear could be figured out to allow the cab to be normal sized (the MiniTrix PRR cab is too long) it could be a very usefull locomotive.
I'd like to see a CB&Q O-5a or O-5b boiler and conversion for the Bachmann J..... the new mechanisms run well enough to make the work worthwhile.
