I've been searching the web for city building ideas. And ran across the Shorpy site and found a group of photos for Stores and Markets
http://www.shorpy.com/image/tid/90
Most are of Washington DC in the teens and twenties. But city structures don't change much till the late forties and fifties with the advent of modern architecture. Except some really great Art deco stuff in the 20's and 30's.
Besides actual structures this group of photos also shows store fronts. And shows just how much you can see into a buildings interior. As well as how many stores decorate their windows.
It's just too bad the pictures aren't in color. Would make modeling a lot easier
Does anyone know where I can find similar photos for Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Pittsburgh and NYC? Especially in the 30's and 40's ?
Thanks
Jim

Great Link! Thanks for posting it. I've been collecting similar (sic) photos of the northern Minnesota area I'm currently fascinated by. Some will appear in my next story about modelling that area.
