Civilian Vehicles
I mentioned a company about a month or so ago that sells 1/300 scale civilian vehicles for architectural products, the minis are in and I hope to post some pictures tonight or tomorrow. Initial impressions are good but not great, more to follow.

Civilian vehicles
I would suggest using "Z" scale vehicles, as they fit in quite well. All of the vehicles we use for our simulations, with the exception of a few, are from the Walthers "Z" scale catalogue. They aren't cheap, but they are already assembles, painted, and lettered where necessary.

Plus there are several other sets of vehicles plus containers, etc...
You will find lots of examples on our web site.

Gentlemen:
I think this is the website that sells the civilian vehicles Av8rmongo supplied pictures of:
http://www.microformmodels.com/newcatalog.html
Thank you Av8rmongo for the pictures and also for putting a Hummer in the shot to give some perspective.

So which scale are the models pictured here?
1:20" (should be about 1:240), or
1:32" (should be about 1:380)
The scale they show, closest to what we might like, would be 1:25" (about 1:320?). But they don't have any of the busses and tractor-trailer rigs in that scale. Still, the ones in the pics look pretty reasonable to my eye.

In the picture below you will see vehicles in four scales:
1/'285th scale GHQ military vehicles
1/220th scale Viking or Kirby cars and trucks
1/300th scale H&R truck
1/240th scale Artsupply Car
They work pretty well together...

The white vehicle next to the Hummer is a large sedan, so it may look a little large next to the Hummer, but it is also in 1/220 scale.
When you look at civilian vehicles, especially over the road trucks in Europe, scale isn't as important because some of the over the road trucks on European roads are huge in real life... so large models fit right in. The big rig is 1/220 by Viking or Kirby from Walthers RR Catalogue. The Walthers stuff in expensive, but where else can you get pre-painted vehicles and fire trucks?
