How about a Ghq convention for all of the micro-armor collectors and gamers? Just micro, and maybe ships too.!
Just a thought. I for one, would go. I live in Bowling Green Florida and would make the trip. :D

seems as though there are more Micro Armour the game players on the forum these days, so maybe we are starting to meet in the middle...
WIthout wanting to hijack the thread, but it's mostly on topic... Has the half price rules increased the number of people here that have bought the rules? I know Rusty has, and I did today, but we're hardly in the GHQ (or any...) micro-armour heatland.

I would agree that any GHQ based event would have to use those rules. But sorry, I can't make it... 8,000 miles and carrying X-ray proof materials through multiple airports....

Would be nice to go to a GHQ con.

Idea is fine, but who is going to do the ground work to make it happen? Site, tables, advertising, food, etc...etc...etc...

Sorry, my HMGS board experience has made me ask questions like this. :)

guys as there seems to be some enthusiasm for this idea, do you think that there is enough to form an on-line committee to liase with GHQ to make this happen?

It would take a lot of organising, getting people to register, locate a reasonable venue etc.

I for one would be happy to participate even though, like Mikel I too am across the pond but just on New Zealand's west islands!

the ideas has been raised, the suggestion to go the next step is there, do we do it?

Do it in Vegas baby! This is where you have conventions! I live here and I'd be very willing to help get this thing off the ground, and I've never met someone who doesn't want to come here - at least for a weekend. If you're going to pick a location, pick one people will readily go to in droves. Also, I work for the newspaper, so I could get us free advertising locally for the event.

...and if that doesn't do it, I like the idea of Minneapolis too, and GHQ HQ is only a couple miles from a great downtown hotel/shopping/dining/entertainment district.

Complete deal breaker there. Don't like them at all.

I agree that it would be better if it is a GHQ rules type event, but what about periods the GHQ doesn't cover?

I think that this type of question should be left to the eventual committee if there is one.

how about it guys, are there any more people to volunteer for the committee?

and what about Chris' suggestion of Vegas? As he says, publicity would be a bonus.....

So is this idea dead again? Some of the US / USSR what if scenarios were beginning to sound interesting for this kind of convention.

I too would be keen, but just like Mickel the 8000+ miles is just a tad on the far side. I have bought the GHQ ruleset though 8)

How about the Event comes to New Zealand i would be for that

looks like it's gone back to being comatose and to be revived in the next century so to speak. :)

What I would suggest, if there is anyone from GHQ scanning this, to communicate directly with those who have shown an interest in developing the idea further and take it from there.

This is a great idea, and one that we have discussed internally for some time. It is definitely something that we would like to do. After seeing that there is some interest here on the forum, it will be brought up at our next meeting. At this point, we will just discuss the general ideas, and not get into all of the specifics. One thing that we would definitely want to do is have it in Minneapolis. We have a lot of people who come through town and want a tour of our facility, and we would like to have that available. One more thing to keep in mind is that this type of thing can't be thrown together in a couple months, it will take some planning time. Keep the ideas flowing!
