What's this?

Post by tanker »

I am finally getting around to painting up the new figs I bought including a set of T-34s. However I need to know where these go;

They look like hatches of some sort but I can't seem to figure out where to put them. Any help is much appreciated.

...those are the late model T34/43 cupolas. One goes over the port side hatch on the turret. The hatch (with 2 hinges) towards the rear and the sight ( the round deal)forward...You don't need to put them on,just if you want to upgrade. If you are a historical purist not before mid 1943.

As JB noted, an accessory but not a necessity. T-34s with cupolas were never actually common, there are pictures of T-34s without cupolas in Hungary, Czechoslovakia and Germany itself (so all 1945 timeframe).

Personally, I put the cupolas on a subset of my T-34s, and use them to help mark the platoon and company command tanks.
