As some clown called "Mk 1" said in the "Another New Guy" thread on Wednesday:

Oh, and since we're on the topic of Tunisia gaming ...

HEY GUYS - THE NEW EARLY-WAR M4A1s ARE OUT!

Image

Ooooooo. Sure looks yummy! Gotta go get me a few dozen. Maybe more. After all, ya can't have TOO MANY Shermans. Even IF there aren't any Panthers around. ...

Nice JU-52! But $9 for a single plane in 1/300 is pretty steep.

Thanks for bringing out the new models, though, and increasing your aircraft coverage.

Bob!

That model is worth every cent! I have a Scotia example, and it's nowhere nearly so well detailed. I've been waiting for this one for years ... and the GHQ offering looks like a real gem! I don't think I'm going to be disappointed. Roll on the Go242!

Now then GHQ ... how about an Me323? Maybe a DC3/C47 and Hamilcar for the Allies?

Yes, I am going to set up Col Hightower’s delaying attack against Von arnim at sidi bou sid. The lack of these Sherman’s has pretty much held up my entire kasserine pass Campaign, while I have been waiting for them. I May do it for the Con this year.

Oooh, sounds like fun. I wanna play! :P

And for those who don't object to "what-if" scenarios, and unbalanced games, how about November 9, 1942, when 2nd Armored Division started marching a battalion of Shermans from Safi to take Casablanca from the south, as the infantry landed at Fedala advanced from the north...

If, as a Sherman-pusher, you've ever wondered what the panzer-goon across the table from you feels like when he brings his Tiger 2s, JagdPanthers, Elephants, and/or JagdTigers on the board ... well just image bringing 54 Shermans on the board to "break through" French defenses which, with luck, might muster about 12 R35s!

Well, I suppose after re-reading his reply, >Maybie< he wasnt trying to be sarcastic. Or Maybie he was.

Maybie I over reacted more than a bit. Ive deleted the post. and replaced it with this apolagy to MK1.

Sometimes he comes off to me like he is trying to belittle and demeane other peoples posts or opinions. Or maybie thats just a Faulty impression I am Getting. but it isnt the first time its happened.

But maybie I am wrong about him. If I am wrong in my assesment of your reply MK1. then I apoligise.

uhhh what?

Did I miss something here? I've always found this board to be most helpfull when designing scenarios, especially "what-if" campaigns (see US/UK v Soviets). I fail to see what Mk I said that was so offensive.

Oh my. It appears that I give offense. :(

Predator:

I meant no sarcasm in my post. At least, not towards your proposed game. When I said it sounded like fun, I meant just that. I enjoy gaming scenarios in French North Africa, both Morrocco and Tunisia.

Perhaps the only sarcasm I intended (although "sarcasm" is not quite the right word) was in my reference to Tigers and Elephants and the like. Folks like me, who push Shermans and T-34s, long for the game where they don't have to suffer being over-matched in armor and gunpower. As a Sherman-pusher, just imagine what it would be like to have armor impervious to the enemy's guns, a gun that kills at max range, AND the advantages of mobility and shear numbers. Patton went to great lengths to seize the port of Safi, far to the south, so that the 2nd Armor could land a battalion of Shermans and participate in the anticipated battle for Casablanca. All I meant was that it sure would be fun to play THAT scenario. Of course, you'd probably have trouble recruiting an adversary.

As to your comments about my posting style in general ... :(

I am aware that I can be a bit of a bore -- I know I talk (and type) too much. I try to control myself, really I do. But I like talking about tanks.

And perhaps I am also being too playful as well. A gentleman I know in his late 70s has referred to me as "jolly", while my own teenagers seem to prefer to label me as "goofy". But it seems that somehow my attempts at humor are lost or misplaced in some of what I have posted.

I guess I shall have to re-read and review some of my prior posts. I seem to be conveying different messages I intend.

Oh my. :(
