CountRingworm,
Here is what I have decided upon for my BKC :D bases:

30mm X 40mm Armor (to include sp assault guns)
30mm X 20mm Infantry (to include towed support weapons or heavy weapons stands)
30mm X 20mm Engineers
20mm X 30mm Trucks (to include all prime movers)
20mm X 50mm Trucks with weapons in tow
30mm X 30mm Recon assets (wheeled or tracked)
30mm X 30mm Deployed Artillery (to include AAA and SP)
30mm X 20mm Deplayed anti-tank weapons
20mm X 20mm FAO or FAC
30mm X 30mm HQ (any level)

I know that the Armor bases are a bit large for a single tank but I figure that you will be measuring from center anyways. The larger size Ifeel is better for representing the footprint of a platoon. Thus I can cover both concepts. Overall I was trying to think of the number of men or equipment and their typical groundspace coverd while deployed. Some units have greater frontage than depth and some have more of an even dimension. Others yet are more depth than frontage. To me, it is all about the footprint while in action!
