Huge, it could be from the US Airlift 'Nickel Grass'. The US sent more modern equipment in droves, such as factory fresh M60A1's, TOW missles, & probably the Vulcans too. So they would have showed up later in the war. But true, they most likely did some time shooting.

This is a good point. The list I presented is only valid for the early phase of the war. If you game later, basically the whole spectrum of modern armaments opens up for both sides.

Thats kinda what I was thinking too, but haven't been able to pin it down...

The pics I saw though the M163 was painted in Israeli colors and not US Army colors...

Recon Vehicles

Post by groundlber »

taskforce58 - Both the Syrians and the Egyptains used Soviet style organizations, so I would go with Soviet organizations from the same period. I read somewhere that the Syrians used Pt-76's and BtR 50's in their recon units.
I think the Israeli's most common recon vehicle was a jeep. They used AMX-13's or jeeps with 106mm recoilless rifles as fire support. No idea on the small unit organization.
Good luck with the project.

I did see a pic with some Zelda's in action during YK. My guess is that they were probably converted from captured Jordanian M113's from '67. So you can use both stock version & Israeli versions of the M113s

What kind of trucks are common on both sides?

Also 3 platoons of 3 vehicles plus 1 HQ (2 for IDF) is the common structure for tank or mech inf. companies for both sides?

I'm using ZiL-157s for my Egyptians, rightly or wrongly. And UaZ-469s for observers and Sagger teams.
