Don:
For what it's worth, I'll add another vote for the Radetzky class.
They are fine ships for their time that deserved a better fate.
I could probably "get into" some might have been in the Med.

Hi Don:
Now you've got me thinking about ships. it's been years...
Looking at the catalogue & the request list, i'm a bit taken aback not to see a model or request for the IJN CA Mogami with proper wartime 8" armalment.
I only see her listed by GHQ with the pre-war 6" "fooled ya, yankee!" battery...
I guess everyone just orders spare turrets from one of the other cruisers?
JimR.
(whose small IJN & SMS fleets have been laid up for over 20 years...)

I will have to check my actual collection of figures tonignt, but my recollection (supported by written files) is that IJN17 includes both triple 6" turrets and twin 8" turrets. What is missing from the GHQ offering is the post-Midway version in which the damaged after turrets were replaced with a deck for handling seaplanes. This version has one vote in the compilation. This would be higher in my own wish list, but a competitor already makes a fairly good model. The same competitor also makes a 6" version of Mogami.

Makes sense then.
Strange that they don't mention it in the catalogue though.

Micronaut Wish List

I have bought some of the Mogami's from GHQ and I recall that they do come with both types of turrets. I have a fairly large Japanese fleet that needs to get painted when I need to get away from doing all my WWII 1/285th micro armor.
By the way, I see that there are now 2 votes for a 1942 Yorktown/Enterprise. According to my recently released Squadron/Signal book on the Yorktown class there were some differences between the Hornet and her sisters. GHQ makes the Hornet of course and I have 3 of them. Apparently, there is not much interest in doing the 1942 versions of these as they appeared at Coral Sea and Midway for the Yorktown and Midway and ** CENSORED ** for the Enterprise. I would think that there would be more interest here considering the important early Pacific battles in which these 2 ships fought. Also how about the 1942 Saratoga and Lexington as she appeared at Coral Sea? As you can tell I have a big interest in the early Pacific War but have lots of other ships and navies as well.

Just to confirm my original thought: IJN17 does provide both the triple 6-inch mounts and the twin 8-inch mounts. Perhaps GHQ should change the catalog to specify this.

To pmskaar: I will take that as another vote for 1942 Yorktown/Enterprise.

Hi Donald

I already voted for this. I am one of the 2 votes for this one. In the interest of full disclosure, it wouldn't be fair to have my vote counted again. I would like others to vote for this 1942 Yorktown?Enterprise since these 2 ships saw so much action in the early war. Thanks

Full disclosure is nice, but my vote tally is nothing like a formal election - it's purely for enjoyment and to lobby for our favorites. In this case, I fully endorse the concept of "Vote early and vote often." Personally, I have voted at least twice for all of my favorites.

Ok then. I will give one additional vote for the 1942 Yorktown and one for the 1942 Enterprise which should now make 4 votes total of which 3 are mine. I would not expect that GHQ would actually make these separately but 1 model would probably do for both ships. I'm still hoping for others to vote for these as well. Thanks.

I am raising 1942 Yorktown/Enterprise up one spot to three votes based on the following considerations:
- It's just greedy to get two votes in a single posting, and
- I like surface ships more than carriers.

Hi Donald

Like you, I actually do prefer surface ships and surface combat for gaming but I still would like these done because of their great service. I will buy them and I will paint them and even have the deck markings for them. I don't know how much action they would see on the gaming table but they would be nice to have.

I'll add my usual October '44 versions of Mississippi & Maryland to complete the six old ladies at Leyte.

I'd happily tag on to any request for a WWI British light cruiser, especially Goodenough's flag. Not going to grizzle about another French WWII battleship either. :)

I am pleased to see a few ships that I'll add to my navies on the coming year's releases, so thanks to our hosts.
Mike
