The new M1 ABV

Have some. Will ablidge in a bit (not yet assembled or painted but I'll show you the pieces)

It comes with a small instruction page.

Edit: heres some pictures of the contents. I apologize for the quality, I'm still not used to photographing micro armor. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks for the photos, this looks like quite an elaborate model. Very detailed - I can't wait to get mine. GHQ did a lot of work on this one. Thanks again for the photos.

Yeah, apparently there are two different dozer blades based on different ABV variants. One blade is straight edged, while the other is V shaped. Entirely up to you which to mount, but to me, the V shaped one looks much more deadly. The straight one just looks like "Meh, I'm a support vehicle"

For clearing minefields, the FWMP (Full Width Mine Ploughs) can be swiftly installed at the front of the vehicle which can be rapidly replaced by the CDBB (Combat Dozer Blades) that, in addition to clearing battlefield obstacles, can also be used to prepare firing positions.

FWMP is probably the V while the CDBB is probably the straight plow

First of all thank you for putting the photos on line for me.

The model looks complicated but the sequence was to complete the mine plough first. I glued the two outer plough skid arms first, that slide into rectangular slots. once initially tact in place I filled the base with extra glue and left it to dry. The central skid fits into a hole. The skids initially dont sit properly but by placing on a flat surface they can be carefully bent into place.

One problem when fitting the plough to the tank is the angle to the tank lower glacis seems to be the wrong angle. This meant the front of the tank tracks were off the ground when I initially glued it on. To overcome this I glued then pushed tank flat on a hard surface. The gap left underneath I filled with glue.

One problem I did find is the machine gun. Be careful the barrel is very weak and I think it would break off after a few straightenings.

Otherwise a very nice model.

I am unsure of the organisation of a M1 ABV Platoon. However, I saw a photo with three parked up. Two with ploughs and one with dozer. That is what I have based my Platoons on.

My experiences pretty much mirror holdfast's. The model is very highly detailed, but a pain to work with the small parts. The mismatch resulting in the treads off the ground was also pretty frustrating, but as of right now, these models are primed and waiting in my painting queue. I've got the FWMP variant with my US Army forces while I have the CDBB variant with my Marines. I've got the Army one attached to my Engineering Company forces while the Marines have the vehicle attached to the Armored Company (since I don't have any dedicated Marine Engineers at the moment).

According to GlobalSecurity.org its a Linear Demolition Charge or LDC. Probably very similar to the older Mine Clearance Line Charge (MCLC). Here is some further explanation.

The ABV should mount the same MCLC thats used on other engineer platforms. Only difference is this bad boy has 2!!!!! I saw these in 29 Palms a few years ago durring the testing days. This is one seriouse piece of gear, and the Marines are using the crap out of them with great success.

There was a half-hour program on the BBC the other night on US Marines in Helmand and they showed the Viper in use.

Whoooosssh Bannngg then a curtain of smoke.

Quite impressive. Wonder if it actually clears the mines?
