HELLO...Hello...hello...

Just wondering if there is a reason there haven't been any posts in a couple of days.

I think everyone is out of money after the end of summer sale - so they are avoiding the forum. I kniow everytime I get on here I feel the urge to splurge on more mini's. Plus as it cools down and we head into the fall people may have more time for our hobby.

I had a bad combination of a week-long assignment that kept me busy for 12 hours a day followed by two viruses; one took down my computer for two days and the other kept me in bed for another two days.

Now that I have a large number of ships to paint, it has been an issue of prioritization. I got all 6 Danton's painted, and created a scenario I called the Guns of October for our naval gaming group. General idea was that due to a delayed visit, Archduke Ferdinand doesn't get assassinated until the end of October, meaning the Turks do collect the Sultan Osman I and Reshadiah from British yards. In February 1915 the Italians honour their treaty commitments and come in on the Central Powers side. That leaves the Italians, Austo-Hungarians and Turks (including ex-German Goeben and posited replacement Von der Tann) versus the French and British.

In our scenario, the Dantons went up against the Tegethoffs, Goeben and Von der Tann. Although two Dantons were sunk and another was severely damaged, they managed to put 5 of the 12 AH main turrets out of action and nearly sink the Von der Tann. The Courbets, supported by the Queen Elizabeth and two RN battlecruisers, put paid to the three Italian dreadnoughts available at that time. The Turks managed to escape with the Sultan Osman I and Reshadiah, which were largely ineffective due to their green crews.

I've been overseas for 5 weeks travelling in Russia followed by a week in London. I went to a local military museum (in the Samara region) and got lots of inspiration from all the Russia gear they had including armoured vehicles, planes and artillery. I also saw a Spetsnaz unarmed display from the local unit to the sounds of Prodigy's "Smack my ** CENSORED ** up" LoL :D I also went to St Petersburg and Moscow and had a quick visit to the Artillery museum in St Petersburg, which i would highly recommend.

Tonnes of inspiration for Eastern front terrain and cold war terrain. I need to sort through all my pictures of military vehicles and local terrain.

Cheers
kieran
