Just a little project to keep busy.

Working on modular urban terrain with magnetic strips to hold them in place on a large bulletin board. The hospital is what I call "shake and bake". I have several sheets of wall sections I printed out and glue them to make what I want. There is no real pattern so I can use the same sections for an office building or apartments. I have other sheets for old red brick buildings and plan to mount them on boards and run the road sections around them. Should be fun.

Hope you like.

Nazgul,
Fabulous hospital.
Can you print out extra sheets, or send file so we/I can. What did you use as the structure of the hospital: styrene, wood, or something else?

Thank you for sharing,
Chris

I printed off the sheets on regular 110 pound cardstock. I reinforced the sides with matt board so I didn't get the typical convex sides. For the thicker matt board I went to a local shop that framed pictures and bought what they had for scraps. I used this for the roof and gently rubbed a colored pencil over it to bring out the texture. Before I folded anything I traced the fold on the backside using a ruler and an ultra-fine ball-point pen. After I folded I pressed hard using the lid from a Sharpie Pen (any smooth, round surface will do) to make the fold sharper.

The lower of the 4 panel sides on the main sheet I cut in half the make the sides of the main hospital body. The thin strips above each panel I glued to the blank side of the panel at the top to add color and act as a guide for the roof. In this scale I have found using glue sticks and white glue with a toothpick the best way to attach things.

The files are on Photobucket. Click on the picture and keep clicking on the magnifying glass in the lower right corner until you get to the original. Its in JPEG, 300dpi, 2550 x 3300 pixels. Feel free to modify, they are stackable to higher buildings with a little cut and paste.

Side note: I started this because I couldn't find buildings that matched what I wanted to use in a game. I hope this will help others and that you will share pictures of your creations here with us. If you want, I will post other building sheets as I make them. I'm aiming towards more modern buildings (1950's to the 80's) at this time and may eventually do a few like drive-ins and such.

Very generous of you. Thank you

Let me speak for the rest of the rest of the forum when I say, of course we would like you to share your other creations with us

Here's what I call my filler buildings. At this time I have 2 types. New (residential and such) and Old (industrial ect.). At this point I've only made a few sheets of the old and have started with the new. I plan to make specialized buildings like the hospital and some from around the area. (I never really paid attention to how much red brick is in the area  )

Here's the sheets, (sorry if the load time is a killer :( )

I tried to leave a fine white line near the top of each building to show where to fold. I bought a small Zona "square" which helps me to keep the score line at a 90 degree angle.

Now off with my camera to explore Rolla and Washington for some building ideas :) .

Nice stuff Nazgul :D

I like the old style buildings - they look very realistic. The faded adverts are a big plus.

Cheers for these.

Thanks for the comments.

I wasn't completely satisfied with the windows for the new buildings and plan to have a photo safari looking for better ones when I can get out. I was just wanting something in better shape around the hospital.

I left the sheets as JPEG so that they can be modified by the downloaders. I will eventually "grunge" them up a bit later and load those if someone doesn't beat me to it first. (After I do a little foot work in a few cities via Google Earth and get some ideas :) )

Just glad to give back something after all these years.

It occurs to me that GHQ has a buildings page. Perhaps they would put them up?

Of course they belong to you

Thanks for the nice buildings :D

Interesting idea, but I don't consider this stuff any where near the quality that is on their page. It would be up to them, I'm still planning to make more buildings and will post as I go along.

As for it being mine . . . as far as I'm concerned its the group's. I left them JPEG so that you all can modify them and share if you want. Have fun with them and post pictures of what you make. All I ask is that they stay free to share.

On one of my many sleepless nights I ventured into the Dunjinni web site and found a great selection of map sections made by ProBono. He provided a link so that others may download his road tiles for free for their personal use. I modified a few of them and with his permission I am posting for our use. I'm using these in my "Housing Project" or what I refer to as "Block Party". The sidewalks are about 10 feet wide and the roads are a bit wide to the scale, but I'm pleased. I printed out a master sheet and took it to my local office supply place to have it copied (at 49 cents a page), saved me money in ink cartridges. :)

These are for Personal Use only.

There are 2 and 4 lane sections and a section with a turn lane in the middle. I haven't been able to make a decent road section with a subtle turn so PLEASE if anyone does or can post your work.

Thanks ProBono for your work and letting us use these. :D
