GHQ Post: On a different note, because there are a lot of areas without gaming stores we have had people suggest to us that GHQ institute a new level of retailing that is like a multi-level marketing program where customers would be able to become an official GHQ representative who could put on games, take orders for GHQ products, and make money to finance their hobby. Obviously we haven't done this, but it's an interesting idea. What do you think about it?
I originally bought my first GHQ miniatures at Gen Con when it was in Milwaukee, WI. I would not order any miniatures by mail and later online without seeing them in person. I do order them now but know what I am expecting now and can see pics online as well.
I would be interested in this as not many conventions I go to carry the miniatures and with Team Yankee being popular they would sell more now than ever.
I caught that too. It seems like it was kind of put in as an afterthought- it definitely doesn't seem to be highlighted front and center. It's an interesting idea. There are a lot of game stores that aren't around any more, and a lot of areas that don't have anything like that. Is the idea that people would promote GHQ products, take orders, and then get a commission on sales? If that's what it is, that may not be bad. Isn't that the sales model that tupperware, and the ladies cosmetics use (I can't think of the name, but the ones that drive the pink cars)? Actually I think that my grandpa use to be a Watkins Man. It's kind of interesting that in the internet age they are considering a business model that has been around for 100+ years. But when you think about it, it makes sense. Like Stryker said, it's nice to be able to see some things before you buy them, and in this case the game stores are going away, or have already gone.
I am hoping to bring more interest in 6mm in AUS by running Team Yankee style games. So if GHQ gets on the Team Yankee wagon and gets the right models out luke East Germans and Commonwealth with SLRs and the luke that would work brilliantly! I think a lot of potential exists for 6mm to grow right now, we just need to market it!
Running games to increase the interest is great. A good experience in a game almost always sparks some interest. It doesn't seem like many people have commented on this topic. I think that this could be a really good idea. Hopefully there will be some more comments like in the topic about the customers having some input on picking a model. There is some really good stuff in there.
