It does not get much better than a large board in 6-mm. Just great work there folks.
I have always been impressed by this scale and you guys show that off superbly.
Extra Crispy, I also think those individual fields work out really well!
A great and very cost effective way to build up an area of countryside.
I'm going to be making a few of them.

Finished up some GHQ Hungarian armor so had to get a game in with them. This game was part of the 2nd Mech Corps attempt to capture Budapest before the end of 1944. Axis forces are a hodgepodge of small units. It was also a chance to use my recently painted Hungarian toys.
The Soviets had a nice big chunk of open ground to cover to break into the town. It was slightly rolling so we could find some dips to drive into if we needed to.
Rick and I were the Russians. We each had a couple of very weak companies of T34/85s from the 23rd Gds Tank Rgt/ 4th Gds Mech Brig/ 2nd Gds Mech Corps. They were only 7 tanks each! And we had the remnants of a couple of companies of the 1st Mot Rifle Bttn/ of the 23rd Gds Tk Brig. Some ATRs and a couple of MMG teams. There was also a FO for some 82mm mortars.
Axis,--the Hungarians which set up in and around this corner. They were troops from the 1st Komp Budapest Police Bttn He had 3 plts of 3 sections each of poor troops and 3 MMG teams that could be dug in. he also had 3 Turan IIs from the 16th Assault Gun Btn. Run by Stephen.
Martin had the Germans which deployed off to their left along the road.
He had a pair of 2 section plts of pzgrd from the II Abt 66 Pz Grd Rgt, 2 MMG sections and a FO for some med mortars. He also had 2 Nashorns from the combined 661, 1179 and 1257 Pzjgr Kp.
Reinforcements for both later

Great AaR and as always wonderful terrain! Thanks for sharing!
Was it typical for small Germans and Hungarian units to mix towards end of war or were the Hungarians usually on their own to face the soviets? That is, would there usually be a German element backstopping the more poorly equipped Hungarians?

Bad Day at Byedoe
I thought I would try my hand at doing an AAR. This is a hypothetical engagement between German and Red Army forces somewhere in northeastern Ukraine in late summer 1943.
I wanted to play an infantry-focused battle using the resources that would most likely be available to infantry units (on a good day). No Tigers or Panthers here. Rules are ‘Mein Panzer’. Counters are used to indicate hidden units or units in entrenched or dug-in positions.
Bad Day at Byednoe
The Soviets are driving towards the Dnepr in late summer of 1943. A German infantry regiment has retreated to a position behind the Myedlenaya River. The river is small, but its steep banks limit vehicle crossing to fords. A reinforced infantry platoon has been tasked with holding one of these fords at the small village of Byednoe. The platoon is to occupy the village. Four squads and one 81 mm mortar comprise the force in the village. A 75mm AT gun backs them up on the west side in a copse of trees, covering the ford. A 105 mm battery and its FO are available for final protective fires and a small reaction force (two squads and a Stug III) is on call if needed. The Germans hastily dig in and wait.

View of the field from the German side.
The Soviets close rapidly on the river as the day comes to an end. Regimental recon scouts the German positions during the night, locating the general trace of the German entrenchments. A soldier in the company tasked with taking Byednoe and the ford is from this village and informs the company commander that a ford shallow enough for men is not far north of Byednoe. Good to know.
The Soviet company commander is given support of a battery of three SU-76Ms and dedicated support of the regiment’s 120mm mortar battery (seven tubes). With these additional assets he makes his plans for the attack, scheduled for the morning. His attack will be one of several along the river line, so it is expected the Germans will be unable to respond with great strength against any single assault. Our Soviet commander’s plan is simple: the mortars will barrage and smoke the eastern side of the village; the SUs will advance up to the village to blast the Germans in their holes and the infantry will follow to make the assault. The attack will come down the road.

Another view of the battle field. The Soviet attack will come from the right.
The attack begins. The 120mm barrage falls on the forward German positions. A lucky hit reduces one of German squads, otherwise no lasting effects. The SUs advance across the open, hoping the barrage suppresses any AT.

Awesome! Fun little engagement. Nothing went right for the defending German forces! On a day like that, just pull back and call it....
Had to have been interesting being a German tanker during that time… outside of offensives, you were driving around from one Russian advance to another plugging holes and stabilizing the front line.

First demos!
Doing demos of the game to get some of my fellow airsoft team members interested in 1/285 modern warfare.
The demos were very simple, the first one an hypothetical middle east incident with american civilians stranded in a small town recently occupied by enemy forces. The objective for the Americans was the occupation of a hospital in the town, the town and surrounding area had defenders in improvised fortifications, some mines blocking the easy accesses and a column of T-72s was in the way. The American force, a recon detachment near by, the only ones near the place, with some artillery and an A-10 Warthog for support, also some SFOD-DELTA hidden near the town in a hill.
The game was mostly rules explanations and some playing, interrupted by more explanations... the demo was to complex as a first game, but the guys got hooked.
The second demos I used only tanks and AFV, 4 M1 Abrams + 4 M2 Bradley + 1 Armoder Hummer for each player playing American and 5 T-72 + 5 BMP-2 + 1 BRDM for those playing Russians.
The objective to get the recon element (the hummers and BRDMs) at least a kilometer (10") from three different targets and make a successful Cohesion roll (taging and reconing the objective).
This last demos was very fun, the guys enjoyed planning their moves as there where four players in two teams, I let them roll for command deficiency individually but sharing initiative, so they played each one their own force.
It was very fun and next 9 of February we will be playing another demo, using just infantry and IFVs, maybe a few mortars or off board artillery in a semi-urban environment.
The terrain is some mishandled terrain for 28mm we have in the store, don't pay much attention to it... we will be making better terrain with time

This is me dorung the boring explaining part.

Things are getting some steam here at small happy Panama after so much time!

I thought I would post my Recent RECON-2018 convention game experience here. Seemed fitting and maybe it would get more viability. Plus it keeps this tread near the top of the forum. Still have not got time to do a full write up on this site so the link will have to do.

Hope you all enjoy, please let me know what you think and any comments on what type of info you would like to see in my write up for the future.
