Has anyone every tried of or done 1/2400 wire rigging of ships? Just curious if so any suggestions or thoughts or is it not worth the trouble.

Some have tried - I think it's impractical.

Rigging on the real thing isn't that visible once you get very far away and 1/2400 is basically like viewing the ship from pretty darn far away...

I have done standing rigging with wire. It looks good, paint it black, and it helps the masts stay where they should just as standing rigging is supposed to do.

Running rigging is harder, in my opinion, more of it.

Oh I use thin stiff wire, just a pair to the lowest crosstree, then another pair, to the next higher crosstree, for each mast. I usually leave it there and at least one from the bowsprit to the foremast.

The black makes it show up, the stiff wire makes the masts more stable. If I did ratlines I might not do the standing rigging as they would get in the way

I used thin copper wire from a lamp cord. It's tough and resilient, and much easier to work with than fishing line.

That's what I said about the wood grain but boy it's does look nice.
I think wire would be too thick.
