I would love to see mod packs for some vehicles. I am getting ready to paint some FMTV Mark 23 trucks and thought it would be cool if there was a cab version without the gun basket in the top. There are several vehicles that have things like that which are not deletable and a simple replacement part could change the vehicle appearance.
Quantity has a Quality all its own.

2019 - 2020 Wish List

Post by pmskaar »

This thread has been in effect since June 2018. One thing that should happen is to keep the list but update it to the 2020 - 2021 list since GHQ already has the 2019 - 2020 list pretty well set.

I have received some feedback already for my Cold War infantry suggestions but would like more feedback to see where the main interest is. Here are my suggestions but would like to see some votes. Each of these would include a corresponding weapons pack as well.

1. Soviet Motorized Rifle Infantry with knee boots and no backpacks.

2. British Infantry 1970s/80s. I don't know specifically when uniforms and weaponry might have changed but these would be later Cold War infantry.

3. West German infantry 1970s/80s. Again these would be late Cold War.

4. East German infantry 1970s/80s. Same as above. These would give more variety to the look of Warsaw Pact forces with their distinctive helmets.

5. French infantry 1970s/80s.

6. Egyptian/Syrian infantry for 1967 and 1973.

7. Israeli infantry for 1967 and 1973.

8. Jordanian infantry for the Six Day War of 1967.

9. South African infantry for the 1980s Bush Wars. With boonie hats.

10. American infantry for the 1970s and early 80s. These would have the steel pot, M203 grenade launchers, ground mounted TOWs, Dragons, M-60 MGs etc. My unit in 3AD did not get the "Fritz" helmet until 1984 so these guys would be good through that time frame. We started getting BDUs (Battle Dress Uniforms) in 1982.

11.. Other? These could include Dutch or Danish infantry for the 1970s or 80s. Could also include earlier 1950s or 60s era infantry for those that really want these.

The Cold War lasted about 45 years, from 1945 to 1989/90. There are lots of possibilities for troops from the Korean War all the way to the fall of the Berlin Wall.

I have seen some votes for the earlier American infantry for the 70s/80s, Soviet Motorized infantry, and British infantry so far. Some of these were asked for back in 2018 with the exception of Begemots request for the Soviet Motorized infantry from just a couple days ago.

What is your vote on this? I want to keep this focused on Cold War infantry only and save any vehicles or other things for another thread.

Thanks!

Pete

Pmskar,

This thread is updated, and was, in June of 2019 because the previous list expired about then, becoming the 2019-2020 list. It will be updated again when the CURRENT list expires. The thread update is not calendar-dependent, but dependent on the GHQ list.

If this is not to your liking, you may take it over. It isn't difficult to run. Just change the dates in the thread title. I update MY wishes when I change the dates and invite others to do the same. Let me know...

In fact, I'll tell you what. I'm kinda grumpy at the moment, so I resign as the "keeper" of the thread. As the Cav used to say at the battle hand-off, "It's your baby now!" Run it how you like, Bub.

2019 - 2020 Wish List

Post by pmskaar »

Hi Panzergator

I don't really have an issue with it as is. I was just making an observation that we are now in 2020. If you want to keep the current date until June or whenever, I have no problem.

Thanks!

Pete

Ok. The current PRODUCT list expired in April of this year. The lists will run from June to June. The year also will be specified. The next list of suggestions will be solicited from June, 2020 to June, 2021 (the SUGGESTION or WISH list) for the year 2021-2022 PRODUCT list. Any questions? (If you ask a question, you will inherit the running of the list. Like I said, I'm kinda grumpy. It's snowing and my arthritis is acting nasty.). The wish list does not guarantee that even a single request will become a product.

Panzer, sorry about the arthritis.
Last week I found a lump on the side of my neck. No worries, turned out to be one of my nuts, -47 windchill will do that.
Stay warm.

Minus 47... That's tea cold! Makes it hard to P, too, doesn't it?

I think you made a typo, Mick. it looks like your post accidentally said minus 45 degrees. Why would anyone live where it gets that cold? We're looking at a high of 77 degrees here in Southern California today. You should come down here. We can drink beer and push some lead in the backyard!

On a much more serious note - I recall my first winter stationed in Korea and how the vocabulary changed when the temperature dropped below zero. All of the colorful verbiage for taking a dump suddenly changed to "dropping a steamer". And what used to be called "going downrange" became "into the freezer"

Why would anybody live in California? Too many people, squirrelly government, too much traffic, odd laws, EARTHQUAKES?

This is why I live in California! January 25th and I'm chillin with my feet in the pool. 30 miles north-east to Snow Valley or Mountain High resorts if I want to ski. 50 miles west to Huntington Beach or Venice if I want to surf. Close to the desert and LA and San Diego. And most importantly: just a short 90 minute drive to Tijuana!

Well, at least your divisional patch is the correct division.

That patch does NOT belong to Third Armored Division, Mike.

Duty First, Mike! I often find myself singing the Big Red One song as I paint my micro armor, much to my wife's dismay!
