Traditionall, the metal comes from the guns captured from the Russians at the siege of Sevastopol. There us, apparently, some evidence that some Chinese bronze guns were also used.

Chris, the question was a type of sweater dates its name wit an indivudual. What is his name and what action brought his name to public attention?

PG, Cav,
I should have remembered the title ‘7th Earl’.
I apologize,
Cav, that was the question for 1000, going to the easy stuff now.
For 200, who is the “Man of the Centuryâ€￾ for the 20th Century?

No earthy idea, although yOu would say it as George C Marshall. I assume your question has to do with military subjects.

Ike and Churchill come to mind, but I have seen Einstein in the mix. Not military, though.

"Man of the Century" based on what source?
As a guess, Uncle Joe?

That's the problem with the title. In what terms and whose opinion. Cris, this is supposed to be military-oriented. Uncle Joe would count, but...nm

That's the problem with the title. In what terms and whose opinion. Chris, this is supposed to be military-oriented. Uncle Joe would count, but... Subjective question, and as memories fade, the significance of contributions fade. Difficult to compare.

When Queen Elizabeth was married in Westminster shortly after WWII, many significant personages attended. The church was largely filled. When George C Marshall entered, the congregation rose to its feet spontaneously in respect for his enormous contribution to winning that conflict. Nobody remembers anything but the Marshall Plan these days, and THAT was largely the creation of George F Kennan. Marshall just happened to be Secretary of State and it was felt that the plan would be better supported with Marshall's name attached. You have to do some reading to even begin to understand what Marshall did during the war, because the popular culture sure won't tell you.

Time indicated Albert Einstein
Washington Post indicated Winston Churchill.
I was thinking Churchill.

PG, you are correct.
The same day Germany invaded Poland.

Brevetted General Custer.

Not for PG...Who was the second highest ranking officer in US 7th Cavalry in 1876?
Did that person survive Little Big Horn?

3 rd highest ranking officer in 7th US Cav? Did that person survive Little Big Horn?
