I hope not to read about the Barbie dolls.
FaceBook is available for random topics.
FB probably has a page or two on Barbie Dolls.

Yes you can. You are not being asked to become something entirely different. A minor course correction may be quite sufficient.
Fireball wrote: SO ban me or allow me to continue to be me...………..there is no other option.
Please don't escalate this conversation unnecessarily by injecting some level of brinksmanship.

There are other options.

We have tended mostly to ban accounts that were obviously spam-bots. Actual wargaming / miniatures-collecting members are very rarely banned.

But we do, and have, edited and deleted posts. Which has on occasion generated temper tantrums and caused members to leave the forum in a tiff. Which we tend to regret, but alas can not control.

It's really quite simple. Our hosts, GHQ, pay for the hosting and maintenance of this forum. We, the lucky forum members, get to gather here and enjoy discussing what we discuss, at their invitation, at no cost to ourselves. Let us not make ourselves unwelcome by ignoring the very simple rules our hosts have posted for all to see.
GHQ wrote: We are limiting this forum to military gaming, modeling, and history.
GHQ wrote: If we see any topic threads, or posts, that we feel are getting too far out, they will be taken down with no warning.
GHQ wrote: do not include any website addresses for other companies in your postings.
GHQ wrote: We try to keep a very friendly and informative atmosphere on our forum, so please refrain from using profanity and any name calling.
It's really not an onerous set of rules. The rules are few, simple, and easily understood.
GHQ wrote: Above all else, the most common feedback that we have gotten has been that visiting the GHQ forum is a nice break from the flames wars, and pettiness, that is seen on many other forums.
GHQ listens. They give us this forum because they see it as a value to their business, but they pay attention to what we, the members, have indicated that we want.

It is not hard to be a good guest. Friendly banter among gamers is not out of bounds. But please don't wander too far afield, or you may find some of your posts vanish in the night.

FB,
I’m sure Mk.1 doesn’t study rules.
A FB page and perhaps a group you create would appreciate your posts, comments bring life to...
Fireball wrote:And what might they be exactly?
And more to the point which ones am I breaking?
I hate to break this to you but my relationship with GHQ is like this.... I don't bother then and in turn they don't bother me as im sort of an institution here.
If you like more wargaming stuff simply avoid posts by Fireball.

FB
Fireball wrote:Twice I have called forth the moderators to put me straight and tow the line.
Well like I said before i'm sort of a..... perhaps a beacon of light on this forum and to limit Fire Ball just to military subjects would extinguish that light.
I can imagine the cry hundred of voices on this forum if that was to happen.
And off course I can't change now, not after what FB has become on this forum.
SO ban me or allow me to continue to be me...………..there is no other option.

Respectfully

FB
So feedback is provided as you request. The grass growing so high.... Omg.
So, as Mk.1 suggested a minor course correction. What groups are you in on FB?
People on here appreciate you.
I have prayed for you. Why draw a line in the sand?

As I see it, the primary discussions on the forum are in order:

* Imaginations - which I just ignore because I am not into that.
** Speculation on what new things will come out and requests.
*** Showing off one's work, which is always interesting. I don't post my work because I have yet to really master the art of adding attachments to messages, because I don't have an account with any of the photo sharing boards.
**** There is very little about conducting actual wargames. Writing AARs is hard and with my perceived difficulties of posting photos, makes it harder. I don't play miniatures very much and my play is primarily used with another companies Main Battle Tank game which lends itself well to the use of Micro Armor. Of course, in my previous life, I used Micro Armor to illustrate what I wanted to happen during platoon and company operations.
***** The Pop Quiz as of late.

I don't mind the occasional off topic post.

Recommendations: GHQ form a General Discussion Forum where any topic is allowed, may (or not) have the same rules for moderation as the rest of the forums, and people have to ask to join, thus if you don't want to partake, you don't have to. You could read, but not comment, if you were not a member.

[Edit]

I further recommend categories for discussion be added as subheadings, including, but not limited to:

General Discussion Forum (Open)
GHQ announcements
AARs/Game Reports
Modeling Techniques
Order of Battle Discussion (Historic and Current Day)
Current Events (Interesting things happening in the real world such as that one is trying to get into the game world, such as long range precision artillery fires by Excaliber at 69km range.)
References: Open Source or unrestricted manuals or web sites for information on tactics, tips, and procedures.
ImagiNations
General Discussion Forum (Restricted)
Trade/Looking For
Game Discussions (for any and all games in which one is using Micro Armor or trying to adapt Micro Armor for use)

Perhaps things will improve once GHQ migrates to its new platform.

Fireball,

In my humble opinion, the reason why no one had “your backâ€￾, as you put it, is because there was no need. Until you asked for it, the moderators had not weighed in on anything. You asked and they responded. Then once they did, you got mad and decided you did not like it. If you look back through your post, none of it has been removed. I have read this entire thread and I could see nothing removed or edited since the moderators chimed in. So I ask you, what help do you need, what support do you want? Just to say you are right and have the latitude to put whatever you want whenever you want? Though I am not a big fan of somethings you post, I do believe you have the right to get a little latitude. You are in pain in your life and you decided to reach out for help from people in a “communityâ€￾ that you have shared things with. That is the great thing about a community, they care for each other. You received an out pouring of support. People most certainly had your back. They gave you advice and words of encouragement. They embraced you when you were in pain. They are trying to help. So I would say that people have your back. Not everyone will agree with everything you say or how you go about it.. But you got what you wanted and that was to reach out and have people care about you and to acknowledge you. Though I am not a fan of you or a some of the things you say, I am a person that cares and I truly feel sorry for the place your life is in and I truly hope that you find piece and are able to bring happiness and stability to your kid’s life. For the same reason I care about you as person who is hurt and reaches out for help, I too felt compassion for Cama when he was in pain and sad to watch people treat him the way that they did, till he left. I wish you the greatest success in life.

However, it’s ironic that you are so quick to cry fowl when the very nature of your annoyance is contradictory to your opinion. This all began when someone made a simple post that they did not like where your topic was going. You fired back about how you should have latitude and such… but at the end of this, you lash out at imagination and how its killing things. How do you reconcile the two things in your head? That is rhetorical, because I have no doubt you can clearly see a difference. Why should you be allowed to post non war gaming stuff and then say that something that is at the very least a form of war gaming. May not like it, but it is.

The last thing I will say, you have no data that the imagination stuff is killing the page, other than you don’t like it and it’s an easy target. The facts are that there are 92 pages of threads. In those 92 pages, there is 4,577 topics and 59,293 posts. Of which a fraction of a percent is actually tied to imagination topics. If I take this one step further, for every post that is found for an imagination thread, most of the contributors have posted tons and tons of content to this forum that is not associated with the top you hate. If people are leaving this forum, it’s not because of that. If people are leaving because they don’t like a handful of thread out of so many others, that would be crazy. If that was true, I would have left this forum a long time ago. The fact is, people are probably leaving or not signing up for a whole host of reasons. Many people have stated this already.. In my humble opinion is that forums are not the preferred medium. This is especially true with today’s youth. There are tons and tons of ways for people to share their stuff that does not involve a forum format like this. Having to post pictures to one site and then another is cumbersome and not to mention a lot of the content lost to photobucket’s new charging policy. Another reason may be because this the people in this genre of wargaming are getting older and new blood is not coming in at the rate that we are losing people to age related issues. 6mm is only one type of wargaming in a whole genre called “historicalsâ€￾. So the amount of people that play are stretched across all these types of historical games. There is a ton of articles and videos that talk about this subject. A lot of younger people think historical gaming is for older people. In addition, a lot of people prefer bigger scales.. An debate that occurred in my group recently. Finally, the younger people tend to lean toward 40k and fantasy and sifi. There is far more content on the internet that is associated with 40K than anything else. In addition, the conventions for these types of wargamign are far huger and more numerous. So, it is highly unlikely that the imagination stuff is killing this site and it is probably more tangible things that you have not thought about.

As I post this, I am sure I will regret it, but I felt the need to say something. Good luck fireball weather you stay or go for good.

Robel,
I agree with your suggestions, I think there is a lot of merit to it.

I think it would be useful if there was a sticky that explained how imaginations work. I can't really make head nor tail of them. Are there any rules? Do all imaginations interact with all others are are there groups? I think you have to actually have all the items you claim to have as physical models but beyond that...

It might make them more accessible to other readers.

CG2,

It's a combo of both, free form and rule based. I can only speak for myself. I have all the models I use, and endeavour to post pics of my pieces to go along with it. I also agree the format could be improved upon.

Fireball,

In response to the last part of your post. Coming from a broken home, I can say this with experience. What your kids deserve is a parent that loves them and does the best they can to give them a fighting chance in life. That is all anyone can do for there children. Be there for the, support them, teach them between right and wrong and love them. There are no guarantees in life that one path will be better than the other. No one can ever measure whether the best memories are from having both parents or a single parent as they grow up. You just do the best you can and love them.

Fireball, you're kids are lucky to have you in their corner. You only want the best for them and are giving it your all. Like Hoth said, they need a loving parent (you) who is a rock in their lives. My mom raised us the same way. She was my rock through life.

The imaginations do represent a lot of activity on here in sheer number of threads and posts other than the show us your stuff thread. I wonder, besides CavDog's cool tutorial, what else we can do to expand the topics and bring in more diversity of posts? I have no one local to game with so AARs are out for me unless i set up solo games.

I haven't been on or commented much as I can't see well. I'm getting the first of two eye surgeries tomorrow to fix my eyesight. When it's all done I'll be back and posting progress and pic of painting.

Just back from first surgery. It sure stings (like rubbing your eyes after handling jalepenos) but not too bad. But my eyesight is even worse right now. Still, I'll try to take some pics of armor to post.

UIncle Fireball, I'd love to see some stuff from your collection.
