I have a new model of CVE-1 USS Long Island (USN97) and I'm not sure what color the flight deck should be. All of the photos I could find are in black and white and just can't determine if the deck is wood color or painted deck blue. If anyone can help direct me to the correct color, I'd sure appreciate it.
Thanks!
Thanks!

All of the carriers were Deck Blue during the war. Those already in service at the time of Pearl Harbor that had not had their wood decks painted Deck Blue already had them repainted as soon as possible. Most were repainted by the Fall of 1941.
I have to search for my notes but one of the fleet carriers had her deck painted at Pearl having left the West Coast with a wood color stained deck. I have a list in one of my boxes with the rough date when each had their deck painted over Deck Blue. Doing a few projects on the house and put a bunch of stuff in boxes and moved them out of Harms Way.
*****Maybe Don S has the info handy. Anything USN, especially WWII, I count on Don having right at the tip of a finger.*****

You are welcome ww2navyguy.
Having just mentioned Don S in my previous reply it occurred to me he has not been posting for a while. I sent him a PM about a week ago or so and did not receive a response. Has anyone been in contact with him?

Is anyone else able to access page 84? Every time I try it says there are no posts but clearly says I am in page 83 of 84 right now. More integration issues?

Hey. Has anyone seen the new UKN 58 O-class DD's with the 4.7" guns?
The website new model links and WW2 United Kingdom catalog isn't showing the new models...painted or unpainted. Was wondering if anyone bought a set and could share how they look?
Too bad the set doesn't include 4 models since there were only four O-class DD's in this configuration.
To get all four, I guess you buy two kits and never build the extra two models? Would GHQ sell a single destroyer model so you don't have to buy a full pack to just get the one extra ship?

I haven't bought them yet, but the German GHQ distributor has a picture up on his homepage.ww2navyguy wrote:Hey. Has anyone seen the new UKN 58 O-class DD's with the 4.7" guns?

and yes, sometimes the package sizes can be the cause for frustration. For me it was the LARS rocket launchers. Beautiful models, but they come in packages of 3...LARS batteries always had 4 launchers.

WWIInavyguy: I saw your comment about the O class DDs. You might try ordering one from GHQ (I think someone else suggested that). Another possibility, is - if you have two friends/contacts that also want an extra - try & make a joint order with two of them. I did something like that with one friend some years ago.
I'd offer, but I brought - and painted - CinC models several years ago, & am too lazy to repeat with a more-detailed set of "O"s.

Thanks Mikee. I did the same thing as you and purchased the CinC models years ago, however, I really like GHQ quality and plan to add them to the collection.
Originally, since I couldn't find a photo of the new O Class models, I was hoping someone who purchased a set of them could share their thoughts on the new model or maybe post a picture. But now that I can see the new model on the German website, I can at least see what they look like to compare to the CinC models. Just wish I could buy the set of four models without the hassle of extra models that were never built in this configuration.
