GHQ Military Models Forum - Imagi-Nations

Post by Splod »

Hi all,

There seems to be a shared world for the modern Imagi-Nations being run on this forum.

Has anyone done a catalog of just who is who in the zoo when it comes to Imagi-Nations? In particular I'd be interested as to whether anyone has established a global map to include the forum's Imagi-Nations and whether there is a specific timeline in which they're set?

Cheers,
Splod

We started one some time ago, but it kind of stalled. We created a website, but it was just a map with very basic info. There are links to a few imagi-nation sites, but the activity on them fluctuates depending on how intrusive real life is. I try to keep the ROD website active as much as I can. Mick (7.62) had some really good sites for Karmanaskis and Yer Bouti, but I think they are getting reworked right now.

Here is the UIN website. It needs a lot of work. Feel free to ad your own imagi-nation to the mix! https://6mmimaginations.webstarts.com/index.html

I was planning on doing a Website myself for my New Canada Imagi-Nation. But being “partly” based off the real Canada made me rethink that.

Hi Splod,
All seem to have been based on present day and have now spread to cover the globe in locations.
I have missed a good part of this year due to work but I do plan to restart the Karma-naskis website this weekend.
Yer Bouti I am keeping to use as a sandbox for future scenarios.
I will try to help redleg with the UIN site now I have a little more time.
I think it would be beneficial to have a central point of who is who at the UIN.
The whole thing has been very ad hoc from day one. Basically what ever two people can gree, could happen.
Real World and imaginary events come and go, people or whole Countries can change.
I know some people have well developed red and blue forces but would never call them imagi-nations or post of them.

At the end of the day it is just another reason to push your tanks and boats around.
Love it or hate it, when you have hundreds of thousands of views it does have some popularity.

Or they become a member of the CofC a Imagi-Nation that covers half of the known world.

The most active Imagi-nation on this forum is New Canada since I do have alot of free time...But finding GHQ minis to use with the NCAF is very hard to find outside of online stores that is, since the community im in is largely into Warhammer/MTG.

I have always wondered about how imaginary your Canada was

My 6mm gaming is primarily historical and focused on the Arab Israeli conflicts from 1956 - 1973, the Iran-Iraq War or the First Gulf War. I do have a fictional nation called MENA-Stan that I use for ultra-modern skirmish gaming in 20mm, however I am yet to do anything in 6mm for that setting.

I've got a Musorian Armoured Battalion and Mechanised Regiment sitting unfinished in a tray that could see some life as a modern Imagi-Nation. It's of course based on the Australian OPFOR manuals, but there's plenty of room for an Imagi-Nation thread

To be honest Splod the key differences between the two Canadas, is largely a cosmetic one. only the names of the military units and bases are the same, everything else is quite different.

The pros for the imaginary NC military compared to the real Canadian military is that the NCAF has more much more equipment to work, the RCN has more ships including 4 Battleships, 1 Supercarrier, and some guided missile ships, the RCAF has more aircraft types including Attack helos.

The cons for the Imaginary NC military, is the NC military culture is unfortunately, not up to standards compared to say the Republic of Dalmaina (ROD), the NC officer corps is somewhat incompetent and abusive at times, and still uses the system of buying officer commissions even after they "allowed" people from the enlisted ranks to become officers though thats kinda a rare thing to happen. military tactics after recent reforms due to the black sea war, is largely up to to early cold war era tactics. and the aforementioned equipment is largely based around WW2 to late Cold War era stock in order to save money. So don't expect to see F-35s in NC service sometime in the near future, maybe until after everyone else retires their F-35s that the NCAF will acquire them.

Sounds like we might have a new imagi-nation in the neighborhood! Welcome aboard! I never heard of the Musorian armed forces and I had to Google it. I learned something new already! In the US we had the Krasnovians for a while, and then it changed to boring old Redland and Orangeland and Blueland.

I can't speak for everyone on here, but I believe many of us with imagi-nations do double duty with our micro armor. My ROD forces double as modern US circa 2001 - same paint jobs and unit orgs. Since you have historical interests you may be able to do the same. Like Mick said, in the end it's all just another reason to play with micro armor!

If your new nation is in the Pacific area maybe we could link up some time.

Splod,
I think there is room and a need for Musoria.
Hope you get the AS-21 Redback and K-9 Huntsman.
Looks like Karma!
Cheers,
Mick.

I've been distracted by my Arab-Israeli project, (Ooh, shiny!) but Musoria is in the Pacific Ocean, roughly 1,600 km north of PNG, and 1,700 km east of the Philippines. The below image illustrates it's location, and is pulled from ADF training manuals.

Oh cool your in the Pacific, I'll make a plan on visiting there the next time the RCN does another one ship patrol (maybe about another month or next year depending if i have ships available as most are undergoing refits and modernization.) Plus Australia is a ally of New Canada.
