Imagi-Nation Global Fleet

Post by redleg »

It’s official – the 2021 Global Fleet is a go!

All imagi-nations are invited to send a ship or two or five or six on this 138 day mission of good will and force projection that will circle the globe. There will be many visits to foreign ports and several sea battles (either fighting each other or fighting external aggressor fleets).

The fleet will assemble in Tijuana, Mexico (because all sailors love Tijuana) on Monday August 23rd for a Mariner’s Banquet. The next day, sailors will take ground transportation to San Diego or Ensenada and the ships will depart on Wednesday August 25th. The fleet will be divided into two squadrons and the port of departure will be determined by squadron.

At times the fleet will be traveling as a single body, and other times the squadrons will travel independently of one another. Command of the fleet will rotate among all participating imagi-nations. The ROD commander will take command at the Mariner’s Banquet and then pass the torch to the next commander while underway.

The ROD will be contributing 5 ships, 6 helicopters, and 3,600 personnel to the Global Fleet:
RODS Cerberus (BB-12) Iowa Class Battleship
RODS Akita (CG-42) Ticonderoga Class Cruiser
RODS Catapult (DDG-109) Arleigh Burke Class Destroyer
RODS Battle Axe (DDG-115) Arleigh Burke Class Destroyer
RODS Lynx (AOE-99) Sacramento Class Combat Support Ship
HCS-16 Headhunters 6 x SH-60F Helicopters

[GM’s Note: This is intended to be a low-maintenance, low-priority exercise. Pictures of ships are encouraged, but not required, and daily posts are certainly not a requirement. I may post updates a couple times a week, and other participants may post pics or info as often as they want. This is low stress. If you want to send some ships let me know. I’ll send you the schedule and you can “magic move” your ships and crews to TJ!]

You honestly do realize that cases of the Delta Variant Covid-19 is on the rise right now, hope you better have some protocols in place to prevent the spread of this highly infectious variant when you travel around the world.

All New Canadian ports and Navy Bases will be closed to this "Global Plague Fleet" as what the NC Newspaper Presses calls it.

The KDF is sending five vessels for the complete trip, others may join for parts of the voyage.
KNS Fearsome (LPD) 550' 16,000 ton.
KNS Silver (FFH Knox class) 438' 4100 ton.
KNS Woodbine (FFH Halifax class) 440' 4700 ton.
KNS Huey (DDG Iroquis class) 423' 5200 ton.
MV Obelisk (Aux supply ship) 600' 23000 ton.

All crew are 100% vaccinated and extra protocols will be in place for all ports of call.
MV Obelisk and KNS Fearsome both have extensive medical teams and facilities.
A major part of the trip will be to help deliver a mass vaccination program to Countries whose health systems are under strain.
The KDF will be using this Naval tour along will coordinated Air and Ground units to promote medical support to other Nations.

The KDF is not as big as some but we intend to promote Karmanaskis and maybe win influence by other meeans.

I like the way the KDF thinks! The ROD patrol schedule has 1st SHAM deploying for a South America mission from August to December (I guess I'm a little late getting them out of port!) The KDF is always welcome to send a ship along with them, or you can put some KDF assets on the ROD ships if you want.

NC is apparently enduring a blockade, self-imposed mind you.

I believe you misunderstood, the closure ONLY IMPLIES to the ROD Navy's global fleet event, civilian ships are allowed to dock at the ports.

The glorious Kingdom of Ba'Hai welcomes the Global Fleet!

We just ask that you all complete the mandatory 14-day quarantine at our maritime border, before entering our waters. Note that any personnel wishing to make landfall to explore our glorious city or its surrounds will also be required to complete a further 14-day quarantine once making landfall in our state-sponsored medical facilities at a very reasonable rate. Any personnel wishing to see our glorious jungles or temple precincts will be subject to a further quarantine period when transitioning between precincts to ensure this vicious virus does not spread among our people.

Also, due to some recent unpleasantness with major powers in the region, we are forced to request that any nuclear powered craft or craft capable of carrying nuclear weaponry do not enter our waters. Rather than entering the Bay of Bengal or the Andaman Sea, your nuclear craft can remain in the Indian Ocean. Note that KoB marine security units continue to patrol the region to combat piracy, with only a 14% in pirate-related ship losses in the last 12 months!

Thank you for the warm welcome, Ba'Hai! Unfortunately we will not be able to stop due to the tight schedule and our need to make it all the way around the planet within the allotted time. We will be in the neighborhood though, passing through the Indian Ocean and the Bay of Bengal. Perhaps we can pay you a visit in the future. The ROD maintains a sizable military presence (including a carrier battle group) in the Kingdom of Mahishmati, which is a tiny country on the Bay of Bengal, squeezed between India and Bangladesh. Perhaps we can swing by with our non-nukes sometime!

New Canada and our ally the Outboard Islands will be monitoring the Global fleets movement to make sure that our COVID-19 protocols are being followed.

The Global Fleet will not be following NC protocols. You are not involved in this operation so you have absolutely no say whatsoever in anything that we will be doing.

The Karmanaskis contingent should be sailing South tomorrow.
Last minute paint jobs are underway to protect the fleet for the long voyage ahead.
KNS Huey (DDG based on the Iroquois class) has also received a new CIWS above the rear helicopter hangar.
The three Huey class, a 70's design DDG, have been modernized over the years but only two have been fitted with a 3D radar (KNS Huey is not one of them).
They are to be replaced with a new Doh Bart class of three air warfare destroyers shortly.

The ROD ships will be leaving soon as well. RPNW has also confirmed that their destroyer squadron will be participating.

Great news from the CoC! Let's ray to balance the squadrons out a little bit. How about if the CoC heads to San Diego to form 1st Squadron and we'll add the RPNW ships to that group? Then we can have Karma and the ROD go to Ensenada to form 2nd Squadron? If any other imagi-nations want to participate there is still time! The festivities begin on Monday August 23rd.
