Thanks a lot Red, thanks Pete. Ironically the dirt is dirt, lol. I’ve a small tub of dirt from one of my flower gardens, that I’ve run through a couple of sifters until it’s the consistency of powdered sugar basically, and all of the pebbles and twigs and stuff are out.

Good looking trucks Bill - the wash you used worked great. You make your own?

Thanks a lot Burt. For GHQ minis, I just use Vallejo pre mixed wash, just because of the numbers of things that get painted, it’s easier. When it comes to my 28s, or my model aircraft or ships, I custom mix washes based on what shade I need using VMC paints.

Lol, the museum did the annual air show this weekend. The Sherman was here as a perk. The museum fired blanks from their 88 at it. There were a couple M2 flamethrowers from the Parris Island foundation there too. I didn’t volunteer this weekend, I’m going to be doing stuff for the museum at a different museum next weekend, so I just walked around and took pictures. Today was the bi-planes and tri-planes day, but they flew a lot of other stuff too. The highlight was the C-47 Placid Lassie.

I use Vallejo washes myself.
I think a wash can make all the difference in the world, but I’ve not experimented By making my own.

You’re right, washes make all the fine detail pop out, especially if you dry brush afterwards.

The infantry is a mix of GHQ, Cracker Line/Good Ground, and Pendraken.
I'm still annoyed with dull coat, I don't ever remember having this problem until about 6 months ago, I'm certain its humidity. It's over 75% humidity here today. I think what I'm going to do, is the next time I mix Mr Color flat clear for on of my 48th models, I'm going to spray my mini's with the left over, that stuff will take the shine off anything, but I can only get it through the mail where I live, so I don't mix it for just a few small things.
I've also been working on scenery for my ACW, here is one set of breastworks I've been making.

Those are another great looking group of Civil War figures, Bill! I like the varied poses in each group. The flags look great, too.

Best recovery vehicle I have seen! I would like to have it on call to help pull my Abrams out of the mud or to tow one that isn’t functioning.
Looks great!
Chris
