Lookin good Cav Dog! A historical question: when they painted NATO vehicles in the winter, did they actually repaint them? Or did they just apply something on top of the regular paint that they removed after winter? I like the winter paint scheme either way!

British Army used a removable white paint in the 80's in Norway for sure.
I do not recall seeing it used in W.Germany back then but I'm sure it was available if really required.

Thanks Mick - that's pretty cool. I wonder if I can get some removable paint for my micro armor? I could spray all of my minis white for winter ops, and then wash them off for summer ops!

Cav Dog, that camo looks great. I love the look of the Abrams!!
Years ago I just primed those vehicles white. Some have been repainted.

Thanks Gents
I always struggle with painting vehicles in winter camo because it is difficult to replicate how the snow melts in use and it requires me to have twice as many vehicles! Although that can be a plus too!
According to Panzerbaer.de, the BW policy in snowy areas was to paint over the green areas with white paint but that the basic pattern was to remain unchanged. It does acknowledge that in practice, it varied widely as some of the other pictures on the site show. This is a Leopard 1A3 : http://panzerbaer.de/colours/a_relaunch ... rd_1a3.htm
Even though it is in German, Panzerbaer is a pretty good site with resources for painting and organizations among other things.

Re: Show us yer stuff!
I finally finished some MRAPs that I feel like I've been spending weeks on. A pack each of the 4x4 and 6x6 vehicles. I was fairly pleased with these because I feel like I got a decent wash on them, and I have always had trouble with washes. Looking at them close up, I see a lot of mistakes, but at arm's length they aren't too bad!

Thanks Fellas. I don't have a real need for them at this point, but they seem pretty cool! Next time I'll go for some in green or NATO camo.

Red leg, I like those Cougars, you did very well especially the windows and vision ports.
Very nice. I have a few Cougars as SWAT vehicles.
