Thank you both very much, Chris and Polish GI! I tried to give each building an individual look even though they might be the same basic building.

Re: Pete's Place
Here are some more Russian and Ukrainian type buildings that I finished recently. The three larger ones are by Leva. I bought these at Historicon probably about 20 years ago and finally finished them.
The wooden Russian building is by Timecast and came in the same set as the other one. The stone building in the picture is cast in metal and very heavy. I don't know who that manufacturer is but I have an identical building from ODGW that is resin and much lighter in weight. I am working on that one right now.

Thank you both, Polish GI and Redleg! I appreciate it.
Here are a few more in-progress pictures of 4 more buildings I am working on. The first is by Leva and looks to be a large public type building of some sort - a meeting house, tavern, or something similar. The second one is another stone cottage by ODGW. This is the resin version of the same metal stone cottage, manufacturer unknown, that I painted earlier. The third one is one of the GHQ Ukranian type cottages. Overall a nice casting but I wish they had done a bit more texturing on the thatch. They came out with a log house a few years ago and the thatch on that one is really well done. The fourth building is by Les Batiments that I purchased at Historicon many years ago. This one is a pretty rough resin casting with lots of little bubbles and stuff. The sculpting on the roof area is pretty so-so. I will see if I can at least make it look decent if not great. A silk purse out of a sows ear and all that.

These are not done yet and I still have some more detail work and touch-up work to do. I will post again when they are finished.

These look already very good, Pete. They all make a great Russian village, for some reason I see some 1941 or 1942 games coming

Pete, your "not finished yet" work is way better than anything I will ever do and call finished! Well done!

Wonderful buildings Pete. Some are up Scale. Some are for the farming working class.

Re: Pete's Place
Thank you, Foxbat, Redleg, and Chris! I appreciate it very much.
Here are three more buildings that I finished over the last few days.

This first one is a large public type building by Leva. I bought this one back at Historicon in the early 2000s and it has just been sitting in a box awaiting paint for over 20 years. This is probably my favorite of the group as I really like the texture of the thatch. Lots of windows but very interesting.

This second one is by GHQ. This one has nice crisp detail although the thatch could have used a bit more texturing in my opinion. I tried to bring out the texture a bit better with some dark washes followed by some judicious drybrushing. I have more of these that are already painted and a couple that will need to be painted. These are more along traditional Ukrainian style buildings.

This third one was a resin casting of a stone building that I picked up at the Old Dominion Game Works booth at Historicon years ago. It is the same building as the previous stone building I featured here but that one was in metal and quite heavy for its size. I tried to paint it just a slight bit differently that the first one but not too much.

Pete - Great job with the buildings. I especially like how you painted the thatched roof on the GHQ Ukrainian building. Looks like an advancement in your technique. Very nice.

Re: Pete's Place
Thank you both, Redleg and Begemot. I appreciate it.
Begemot, I have been trying to get the thatch on all the thatched roof buildings to look reasonable. I decided to go with a darker underlayer on these buildings and build up to a bit lighter color. I still wish GHQ had done more with the sculpting on the thatch. They did a large thatched roof log building several years ago that had some great thatch texture.
Here is a picture from my Stemming the Tide game in December showing a small village with mostly thatched roof houses. The large building with the thatched roof is what I am talking about.

It's looking good Pete.
Thatched roofs are challenging for sure. Everyone has their version of what it looks like.
