Re: Paul's Corner
‘Leg,
It is single hex mat on a 5’x4’ table with 2” hexes. It’s my friend Paul Wilson’s mat. We need to get mats with 1.75” hexes.
Fast paced I guess - 15 minutes per turn. We had a 4 hour slot. Started play after 30 minutes of intro and ended about 15 minutes early. Played 13 turns before I called the game. We had 3 players that were complete novices and 3 people that played 3 times at the most and had not played in over a year. Paul and I kept the pace moving, and we were able to play through the scenario which was planned for 14 turns.

I have been slowly working on the next company of micro armor. Late war Pz IVH's. Here are some WIP pics.

Pz IV H's camo and wash applied.

Company command

The big man himself
Need to figure out/print stowage. and decide on decals.

Re: Paul's Corner
Excellent work on those Pz IVs, Paul. They are coming along very well. It is great to see you posting here.
These look to me like the older GHQ Pz IVs that came out in the late 70's or early 80's. They still hold up pretty well and in some ways are more accurate than the newer Panzer IV series that GHQ release starting around 2010 or so. I have both in my collection. When I get to painting some more I will probably paint some of each to see how they look together.
Here is my opinion on the older vs newer Panzer IVs by GHQ.
The older model has a bit less detail on the road wheels but has an accurate looking drive sprocket. I also like the tow cable in the rear of the hull on the older model as well. The supports for the turret Schurzen seem at a more correct angle on the older Pz IVH.
The newer model has great detail in the tracks and roadwheels but the drive sprocket just looks totally wrong and has no teeth. This is more apparent on some of the other Pz IV series without the Schurzen. The angle of the Schurzen supports for the turret seems severe especially the angle of the two front supports. No tow cables are included as well.
I would love to see GHQ do a brand new Panzer IV series to rectify the problems I have addressed here on the more recent models. There are some other things that need a look on these. Since this is a major German vehicle series it would be very nice to have these issues addressed.

Re: Paul's Corner
Redleg, thank you.
Pete, thanks. You are correct they are the older Pz IV H castings. I have become quite adept at stripping older figures from the collection. I'm off to Historicon this afternoon.

Hi Paul
I hope you have a great Historicon. I admit it has been about 19 years since I was last there. It was definitely a fun time.

Re: Paul's Corner
Pete,
Historicon 2026 was fun as usual. Reconnected with friends that have been MIA for years. Saw close friends, Rich Hasenauer and Michael Montemorano. Played Brazen Chariiots games, Check Your 6 Jet age, new micro armor game in development, and Heavy Gear.
Oh, I entered the painting competition again. I entered the Pz IVF2 company, which I posted the WIP photos. They garnered 3rd place.
And to add to the joy, Spain won!!! VIVA LA ROJA !!!

Hoth,
Thank you!! It is a very good feeling when micro armor can compete and hold its own against bigger scales. I am on family vacation now, but will post pics of the PzIV company when I return.
