Now HMS Victorious, aka USS Robin. She was loaned to the US Navy in late 1942, a very convenient loanb that helped go through the carrier dearth that plagued US forces in the Pacific following the losses of the year. She's done in some kind of Arctic camouflage, but I plead for your indulgence as the only source i found was a photo of the box of a model....

Very nice job with the USS Robin (aka HMS Victorious). I have a painted model of a GHQ CV Illustrious to represent USS Robin, too. She is painted in overall Measure 21 dark blue scheme with one of the deck decals from Flight Deck Decals in a camo pattern for USS Robin. This scheme also matched a reference I found in Malcolm Wright's British and Commonwealth Warship Camouflage of WWII Volume 2 book (copyright and printed in 2015). Volume 2 covers British battleships and aircraft carriers. I love all of his naval camo books. He completed three volumes for British ships in WWII and one large volume for Japanese WWII camo, too. I'm not sure if they are still available from the publisher, but I see a bunch of them listed on eBay. Thanks for sharing your painted work on the forum. Your one of my favorite posts to check out.

That's fairly good, very far from terrible. The only advice I'd give you is to swap your yellow light bulbs for some white light ones, it works wonders with indoor pictures.
And thanks a lot for the color plate. I won't redo my work but if I can get a copy of Mal Wright's book, that will help in the future.

Agreed. My standard light bulb did me no favors. Next time I will try to get a natural lighting shot. I really want to figure how to get the photo to show up in the posting. I was trying to use the imgru website and then copying the link over, but it doesn't show up in the thread, just the link. I am not a techy person.

Over the years I have collected many books with both color and black & white plates of both port and starboard images of camo patterns for ships in many navies. Right now I am searching for references for Russian WWII naval camo patterns. I read that Malcolm Wright was working on a new book covering this subject, but have not seen anything released yet.

Today's the 4th of June, and the 82nd anniversary of the battle of Midway. So why not commemorate with a few ship models? First, some apologies for the misleading title, I have posted only the carriers of TF16, but after all, they were the main artisans of the victory. And also, when you are an absolute geek regarding WW2 naval history like me, you always feel a bit of trepidation at the prospect of doing such celebrated ships as Enterprise & Hornet, Enterprise being, by all accounts, the most famous warship pf WW2... This time I passed the test d'élan
