USS North Carolina, in her 1942 livery. She copped a Long Lance from the spread that sank the USS Wasp & another destroyer, and had to return for repairs, so she missed 2nd Guad-alca-nal 2 months later. USN fast battleships are extremely good looking ships, but there were but 10 of them, and this one is already the 5th in my collection... pending the 2 Massachussets I got when the model was for discount
2 more things : it looks like my image uploader site is down for the moment. Hopefully it will come back... if not it will take a bit of work to replace the links.
Also, I live near Bordeaux. We have had some really bad forest fires this summer, to the point that some 200k people had to evacuate. Myself included. Thankfully, I'm not lacking resources, and could quickly find a solution. We're back home now, and thank God, my place is intact. There remains though the memory of having to leave your home on the spot, without knowing when, or if, you'll return there. That makes you somewhat more sympathetic with the plight of other people who have to do so in much direr circumstances. The last pic, which you may already have seen, was taken at the heart of the burned down area, some 30km from my place. It shows the extent of the damage to our beautiful pine trees forest.
