One idea I have had is to paint cavas for roads. There is a guy here that does terrain professionally. He has made woods mats that are flocked canvas. Since he does this professionally he won't give me all his secrets but told me a bit to get started.

There are some canvas roads for sale buthe curl up. His don't.

I have 2 frames that I got from Hobby Lobby cheap. I planed on using siliconized latex Caulk thinned down to a paint consistancy. The plan is to paint the canvass and let it shrink, paint the center and side lines. At that point I should be ready to cut out the sections.

I hope that it will give me both the asthetics on the road tape and the functionality of felt.

Has anyone tried something like this?

Thanks for the compliment. I don't want to be plugging an item that possibly compete's with GHQ. So, if you go to my site and email me from there, I'll be gald to give you info on the props I've used in my photos.

The Middle Eastern buildings are my own design. They are on track to become product ready, but I don't have an ETA just yet.

Hi

I use bathrooom sealant (Silcon Caulk) for my roads. I smear a thin layer on a piece of thin plastic or paper and then mark some grooves and so on into the caulk. You can buy coloured caulk here in NZ so that save a lot of time because i don't have to paint it and the paint won't come off or chip. I use a coffee coloured caulk for dirt roads and then give it a cream drybrush as a highlight

For asphalt roads I just use black card and spray it with an air brush or spray can grey and then a light dusting of a buff colour. I used to use sandpaper for roads but the texture is too overscaled and its a pain drawing markings onto the sandpaper.
