Pete,

The railway sections are resin from Leva and come with the tracks and ties atop a textured embankment. I base them on a 1mm thick slightly wider strip of sheet styrene and glue this assembly to the TM hex. Last step is to putty the edges of the track assembly for a smooth transition to the surrounding flat terrain.

The buildings are a mix of TimeCast and Leva, the majority being TimeCast. The picket fence is from C-in-C.

I use Woodland Scenics model RR flocking, a mix of green and earth colors that are mostly fine size with some static grass and a small amount of fine ballast added for the rocks/stones. For the exposed ground/gravel I am using coarse pumice gel (thank you Cama for the tip!).

Tanner,

Your desert/arid tiles are awesome!

These are not Terrain Maker, they are MDF laser cut hexes; technically its competition so I won't post the link.

The texture is the same material I use for my dirt roads: Golden Fine Pumice Gel.

Lastly, I used Delta Ceramcoat paint and Polyurethane Varnish (gloss) from Hobby Lobby.

Thanks for the kind words guys :D

Superb work as always.

I hadn't thought of MDF for the hexes before. Have you ever had any trouble with them warping? Do you do anything to protect them from warping?

Thanks
Richard

The Baghdad Parade Grounds boards project is coming right down to the wire.
It’s early Tuesday morning right now and I’ve got to have these boards at a convention in Los Angeles on Friday. It’s going to be close. Honestly, they could go just as they are right now .. but I really want to get a lot more detail added before Friday and if I can somehow manage it I would love to get one more row of boards on the east end of the set.

Thank you so much Cama. I'll probably post one more update tomorrow and then there will be photos from the convention over the weekend.

I wish I did too ... I had to add on a temporary bit to the end of my big gaming table just so that I could see what they all look like together for once :)

Working on some terrain for an Ardennes project. I'm looking for a muddy, winter look. Here are a few pics to show the first test.

So here is the initial ground work and paint. Again trying for a wet muddy look. I have not painted the sides of the hex yet. This is a test hex some I'm not too worried about the color, though I'm thinking a field drab color or maybe a flat earth.

Image
Hex with grass added. I think there needs to be more green grass included, it seems a bit too yellow.

Anyhow, more to follow as time allows!

Looking good. I have that exact same plane model, I really think it's a nice piece.

Hey guys! This is my very first attempt at making Terrain using the GHQ TM system. Me and my roomate are playing battles in North Africa during WWII in primarily 1941. Due to some awkwardness with how buildings function in platoon level games I havent gotten around to doing any towns or villages, but this is what I have so far, hope you like it. Any feedback or suggestions are welcome, just be kind, it was my first go.

An overall look at the board I set up for pictures

Closer look at Hill and Wadi hexes, with Germans atop it

Closer look at Road, Open ground, and palm tree's. British Crusader's on the top left.

Some Soft Sand hexes, with British A-13's on the right

Finally, some Rough Terrain hexes, with Rolls Royce Armoured cars on the right.

Would have posted them as images but they came out massive in the forum page.

Regards,
Ivicus

Preview -- Attack on Demouville, Normandy

Post by Bezmozgu7 »

Here are a few photos of the town of Demouville in Normandy our group will battle over on Saturday. The 3rd Battalion Monmouthshire Regiment, supported by Shermans of the 2nd Northants Yeomanry, will attempt to seize the town from elements of the StuG Abt. 200. Hopefully Roger will prepare another AAR to post next week. Ben and I pooled our terrain for the table.
