just wondering if there is any need for a thread about trustworthy, relevant books, journals, websites etc which provide images and info on both land and sea weapons / vehicles/ vessels etc?

That tends to be limited to how good the local library is, how much you can spend on your own, or how high a security clearance you have.

agree re all of the above, I was thinking for something permanent here on the forum if there were enough interest with people supplying their recommendations, others discussing any shortcomings and to identify European and Asian sources of images, information etc.
Of course then for GHQ to be willing to add that section to the forum as well.
